    Hi everyone

    Another news

Halo3 for xbox360 gets 10/10 from The official Xbox Magazine of Australia:

    * OXM Australia 10/10 - "the graphics are basically just Halo 2 in HD"

    And gets 9/10 OXM Brazil

    * OXM Brazil 9/10 - "Master Chief, born from the massive destruction created by human knowledge, finally found a personal reason to finish the fight" ''Halo 2 in HD''

    -------------------------------

Both agreed that the game is fantastic but the GFX are not next Generation

Some say that they didnt want to push the xbox360 to its limits to avoid mass RROD.....because every x360 ower will get it!!!! :p

Anyway i think the game deserves only 8...MAX!!!

    What do you think people!!!

It'll be kind of hard for us to actually say what we think of the game until Tuesday lol. I'm looking forward to it but I won't be buying it right now. HL2:OB and Hellgate:London are more important to me right now! Sorry Master Chief.

All the "Official Console Magazines" are just Ads to help propel sales of the console, in other words have you ever seen a negative review in one? maybe this would help:

LOL I didn't even realize that. Makes sense too, a company wouldn't give a less than perfect score to one of their own products.

They ll most probably give good marks to big company, even thou if the game sucks so much. Any magazine will do this unless they want themselves out of the game.

(That's y we get user Notebook reviews, sometimes it maybe bias, but it's better than those in Cnet or anywhere.)

Yup corporate media at its best. Reviewers are forced to give one sided reviews of a product or be out of a job and/or products to test and that companies good graces.

Personal reviews are usually the way to go, or sites that have no affiliation with the company or its product being tested.

I cant say there are any games I look forward too much that are soon to come.

Well Portals I think I will love from the orange box with the new Half Life game because its a great new concept made from the people that did narbacular drop. I also look forward to Unreal Tournament 3 and Starcraft 2.

I was a huge halo fan but halo 2 was a dissapointment for me. The plot was good based upon the fact that all that happened needed to happen so that humanity could survive. But the campaign was just so repetitive in terms of gameplay. Multiplayer was a blast but I seriously think Team Fortress 2 will be even in terms of fun factor or even better.

not really...very few games like World in Conflict lived up to the hype......nuking the Statue of Liberty or the Space Needle in Seattle is a godsend and a must see! Destruction never looked so good :).......ok don't flame me....but anyways about those reviews....I'm sure they got paid to have those kind of ratings.....nothing innovative...I bet in that game.....just maybe the storyline is the change....and weapons....I don't really know because I'm not a die hard Halo fan.....

Nowadays, people who have not yet played the game make up their minds about said game using the opinions of other guys who also have not played the game.

No one is forcing you to like Halo, but it seems that too many of you are hating it because it's popular.

Oh there is people already have the full game in Europe because of a store that released it early.....google that one up....I didn't say I hated it....at all. I do enjoy playing it when with a couple of friends but I do agree it's way too hyped. Heck Halo 2 on HD on XB 360 doesn't look great anyways......now on the PC that's a different story....

That's a funny comment, incase you misunderstood. Half of the comments were about how magazine rates games from mega coporation...
Halo 3 is a nice addition as it updates old game to look better. It still plays the same i guess (ain't all fps the same) but the story might be different and better.
But then again, i dun play fps except for cs1.6, which was quite long ago. The only game i m enjoyin now is warcraft 3, in dota mode.

I read the Halo book series and REALLY enjoyed it. Subsequently, my primary reason for playing the Halo games is to complete my knowledge of the storyline. I don't care much about the gameplay, improvement in graphics, weapons, etc. I just want to know what happens next.

Accordingly, I'll make sure not to come to NBR (or any other gaming forum/subforum) till I'm done with the game due to the prevalence of spoiler freaks. I've noticed that anyone who dislikes a game will attempt to spoil the ending/endings for everyone else in order to dissolve interest.

Not likely. The reviewers don't need to suck up to microsoft for money. Their publishers are 3rd party. What happens is that reviewers attempt to review the game before offical release in order to have it ready by press time. They get sucked into the hype just like everyone else. What's with all the conspiracy theory? I'm sure quite a few gaming editors would be seriously offended if they read that post. :p

    Reasons I don't like it:

Microsoft is trying to milk every last drop from the franchise.
    Overhyped.
    Repetetive.
    PC FPS's were always better.
It's an FPS for console, there are better ones for fun with mates e.g. Timesplitters 3 vs. Halo 2.
    Repetitive.

Ign seemed to like the game, and never said it had bad graphics, in fact... " Graphics
Despite a few moments of slowdown, this is a gorgeous game, especially considering the demands of the replay function. And it's to die for in 1080p."

    Moooooooooooooooore reviews:

    * Gamepro 100/100 - "It's solid gameplay, immense replayability, online functionality and incredible production values will ensure its place in video game history, and it is, without a doubt, a satisfying and fulfilling close to the beloved trilogy."

    * 1UP.com 100/100 - "It's hard to imagine a feature of this game that someone won't love... Sure, no one aspect of the game is life-changing on its own, but perhaps the package as a whole is. After all, Halo 3 has enough content to keep you stuck to your controller for weeks, if not months or even years."

    * IGN 95/100 - "The campaign, which is very good, is Halo 3's weakest point. It doesn't capture the cavalier spirit of the original Halo, but you'll still have fun playing through it. There's no first-person shooter on 360 that can equal Halo 3's blend of cinematic action, adrenaline-pumping shootouts, and male- (and female)-bonding gameplay. Look beyond the gameplay and you have a rich feature set unlike anything ever delivered in a videogame."

    * Gamespot 95/100 - "It's the addition of the Forge level editor and the saved films that give the game an even longer set of legs, legs that will probably keep you running at full speed until Bungie figures out where, exactly, to go from here."

    Plus

    100 - GamePro
    100 - GameSpy
    100 - EuroGamer
    100 - Games Radar
    100 - 1UP
    100 - Pro-G

lol halo 3, I have the first 2 halos and its the most hyped bs, its just a generic fps with online play...PC had that since 90s and fps is much better on a keyboard and mouse. Consol games are only good for fighting games and multiplayer ie 2-4 players.

I just feel sorry for the people who spent extra on the Limited Edition versions and got scratched discs out of box.

As to the graphics, from the screenshots on IGN, Halo 3 looks very decent. They could have probably pushed it more, and probably should have given the maturity of the 360 and being a sequel to the XBox's killer app, but deserves more credit than just being a higher resolution Halo 2. From the screenshots, it appears to have good shader effects for lighting and reflection, but I think what is lacking is terrain detail. Most of the time, the ground seems to be pretty plain textures. I guess they put priority on character detail instead which looks very nice.

Well, money isn't the only incentive a publisher can give. The right to give exclusive preview/interview/article etc on hyped up games are incentive enough for many gaming site. Besides, these gaming sites are getting their copy and rights to publish their review before release, which is incentive enough. If you run your big gaming site, do you want to be late at the bandwagon of Halo3 review, for competing with other gaming sites (who all have hyped up pre-release review) just for the sake of being fair? Pre-releaseday reviews of hyped-up titles are about as reliable as FOX news, or maybe even less. I just ignore their scores and conclusions, and only try to gather some gameplay information, and try to read between the lines about little things. Opinion of actual game players are far more informative, at least if you have good knowledge of that player's taste/interests etc.

Agreed in the WIC comment. A true opera of destruction. Multiplayer is fantastic too.

Yeah, that, or we hated the MP beta.

The first Halo game got me interested in the universe, and I read the book series in the months before Halo 2. I as all hyped up and then bam! Disappointed to the max extreme by 2 on release day. I'll prolly play through Halo 3 on a mate's system on easy, just to see the final result of the trilogy.

And Halo 2 graphics in HD? So they didn't improve on the beta at all? That's disappointing.

The only reason the Halo franchise got anywhere in the first place was because it was the first non-sucky FPS with multiplayer on a console. Nothing groundbreaking about it. When the original came out, I stuck with my UT2k4. (Onslaught-Torlan was soooo > Blood Gulch, lol)

When Halo2 came out, it was Halo1 gfx with some updates. And having played the beta at a friend's house, Halo3 is yet again another simple 'update' with no real new meat to it whatsoever. Halo's 4-100 are going to be the same fscking formula as well. PC FPS's are and always will be much better than console ones.

i thought the game was good though i didn't understand the ending, the ending for easy, normal, and heroic mode, but if u beat it on legendary there is a different ending that was just awesome. u said the graphics were just halo 2 in hd, the beta was but the real game looks much better. im gonna play it today in hd when i gt home to see what it looks like. i also had to go to my friends house to play h3 because i dont have a 360 :( TO DAMN EXPENSIVE

PS: don;t try to go look up the ending it will ruin for u, it is too good an ending to go watch on some site or something. i tried to post this earlier but the internet was being a piece of crap. but yeah dont base anything u see off videos or the beta the real thing is much different.

another ps: some gamestops held h2 tournaments for halo 3 a few days ago but some r having tournys todays n u can get h3 before it comes out.

DID CS come ot before h2?

The two "greats" of the online MP world are Counterstrike (2000) and Starcraft (1996). PC gamers never really cared about Halo because they've got better games to play...

I'm a PC gamer who cared about Halo because it's the best game my console-owning friends have found for LANs. It's a really fun multiplayer game, and I'm looking forward to trying out the newest increment. Though as I don't own an Xbox, I won't be buying it.

Graphics non HD are ALOT better then 2, will be trying HD after class.

I highly doubt they will make anything priority over the moneymaker they call WoW. But I do await the awsomeness SC2 will be.

Wow, having lurked around since I've got my shiny Vostro so I can keep up to date with everything I just have to say why on earth is everyone so bitter about console games? Just because some elements have been done before on the PC, doesn't mean that it sucks.

Having owned the first Halo a long time ago, I can say that it was a good game. The weapons were good, the storyline was immersive enough, it was polished pretty well and it DID bring a little innovation to console FPS's.

Even just little things like having a dedicated grenade button, a limit of two weapons, a decent melee, a well implemented shield/health system etc made it something fun to play. Maybe individual bits had been done before but either not in the same genre at all (I saw in another thread about arguing that Starcraft and recharging shields - come on, its a bloody RTS FFS) or not in combination with the others. To say it was completely devoid of any innovation is just daft.

Halo 2's single player sucked. Seriously. But even Bungie have admitted this and have tried to correct it in the new one. The balancing was well off, no tension etc etc. Entire rooms including corpses were repeated one after the other. I could go on.

The multiplayer was pretty decent though, helped by the whole Live integration and was fun to sit and play. You also didn't have to worry about getting kicked out of a server for either
    a) being a noob or
    b) cheating (or accused of it - see the completely daft Steam ID "skill measurement" on Counterstrike at the moment)
Yeah, it wasn't perfect and wasn't as twitchy as PC FPS but then you can't hate it just because it was different.

I haven't played the final release of Halo 3, I don't have a 360, or planning to get one. I'll stick to BF2142 myself. BUT to base your opinions on a game you've never played on what a few elitist PC gamers say (whom didn't actually like the first one despite it actually being quite a good game) is just daft.

Go round a mates and play it, look on half-decent gaming forums (I'm part of a tiny community on www.gamecell.co.uk whom I trust) and then make an intelligent decision on whether you want it. At the end of the day, its just a game. To people to say "It sucks, CS makes a miles better multiplayer game" then stick to that. Well done, you can perservere with the same old year after year. Some people might actually want something new to play that just doesn't suck.

EDIT: I am referring to all the threads regarding H3, not just this one by the way...

I bought Halo 3 yesterday. I have to say, it's alot better than I had expected. I havn't finished it yet but I can say the graphics are absolutely amazing. I love the new weapons and the items. It's awsome being able to throw up some "deployable cover" when you're under heavy fire :). As a matter of fact I'm gonna go play it now!

Good to hear that u enjoyed it, it got a first day opening of 170$millions. But dumbly, gamespot compared it to the sales of spiderman 3 (wth, the game is $60 and a ticket for a movie is?)
