Just recently picked up a copy of Halo but I want to use a gamepad with it, in the setup it does have a option for it but does not let me click on it.
I have the Microsoft 360 controller, is there a way for me to be able to use it, or even any gamepad?
On a side not does any body know if Halo 3 is coming out for the PC?

why don't you use the combination of mouse and keyboard? It should be the most suitable for FPS.
Or you may wanna give joytokey a try? It's a fantastic software that "converts joystick input into keyboard input (and mouse input)." I always use this thing for games that doesn't suppport gamepads.

Thanks!
I come from the console era and just can't get used to using a mouse and keyboard for gaming.....I don't know, call me crazy.
Will it work for Vista 64? -
the 360 controller should work as long as you have the drivers for it, and according to many rumors that are always true for halo pc games, yes Halo 3 will most likely come to PC
"The PC version has been expected for quite some time, although neither Microsoft nor Bungie gave an official word on that. Now, there's an image of the Microsoft Download Service that seems to indicate the imminent PC version (thanks VE3D for the heads-up).
Well, it's only a matter of time before we see Halo 3 on our PCs. However, I have this nagging sensation that the Halo 2 scenario awaits us. You know, MS making Halo 3 PC Vista/DX11 only - or some **** like that."

Yeah I expected as much
I know Halo Wars is coming up and was wondering what the other "Halo" projects were.
To bad they are taking there sweet @ss time bringing Halo 3 out for the PC.
Bungie could make so much more $$ putting it out soon before every body forgets about it.
There are rumors of a Halo 4 coming out also. -

Are you talking about halo1 for pc? Are there still online games for this version? what do you mean by halo2 scenario?
Sorry for the 20 questions, but I used to love halo until 3 came out and now with the extremely limited maps (I play 2 maps 100% of the time) I stopped playing for like 8 months. Even now trying to get back into it is hard. -
It should work, yes. -
On online play: There is still a well populated online community, you can check out the server activity at Halostats
On the controller: If it is a wired controller, just plug it into your computers USB port, and windows will automatically ask you to let it find and install the drivers. If it is a wireless controller, you need to purchase a special receiver to use it since it can only connect via wireless (the play and charge kit cable is not a data transfer cable, it's just a power cable).
On the gamepad support: The option should be available if you have a compatible gamepad installed and plugged in. Make sure it is connected properly and that the drivers are installed. Here's a helpful link: How to configure the Xbox 360 Controller for Windows to play Halo: Combat Evolved
Something you should know: There's this thing called Halo: Custom Edition, which basically is a free modified version of Halo PC which allows the use of user generated maps, with custom content in them. This means new maps, new vehicles, new weapons, etc.... From maps that imitate Halo 2 and 3, to wild race tracks, and even one that emulates Ocarina of Time. You can check out a lot of the maps on youtube here. What's the catch? Well, not as many people still play it as vanilla Halo PC, especially since it was never advertised or anything. There are over a THOUSAND maps, and only 30 active servers (at the time of typing this). -
Wow! Thanks for all the great info. Necromas.
I never played any of the previous Halo games and got both 1 and 2 for about $10 both brand new.( I know I am probably the only person in the world who is into video games that has yet to play these games)
The deal was to good to pass up, anyways I will try your links.
Thanks again! -

That's OK!
Not really into online play much, but I will give it a shot. -
Necromas you are the best everything works great now, and it does work for Vista 64.
Time to get my @ss kicked! -
I have both Halo 1 and 2 for PC. One thing that kinda let me down was the online play. I thought that with LIVE, you would be able to play cross-platform, meaning what PC players would be able to play against those using XBOX, but unfortunately, that's not the case.

I don't think there are any games that you can cross platform with yet (360 to PC).
I don't think so anyway, but it would be a really great feature!
