Okay, as far as I know, Hamachi works like sort off a online LAN. Which means that you can connect games that uses LAN without connecting to multiple PC's or connect with the game official server.

To make you understand, take Warcraft 3 for example. There is Battle.Net and LAN. What Hamachi does is it allows you to see players who are playing Warcraft when you click on the LAN.

To do this you must join groups/rooms. This groups/rooms usually have a lot of players. Whenever a player in Room A makes a DotA match using LAN, you will be able to access the match from your PC.

Hamachi is really cool if you planning to connect to your friend PC without actually meeting them.

    I hope you understand

It emulates a local network. So you can play LAN games with people over the internet. It's great. A lot of people use it to play a game 'online' when they don't have the official key, by organizing big lans in forums etc.

It's very easy to set up. Install the program, start it, and click "create network" or "join network".
If you want to create a network, type in a name for it, and an optional password. Then tell your friends to join that network. Voila, you are now on a LAN with them.
