    Hardware Acceleration in Vista?

    How do I change that? I go to Desktop>Personalize>Display Settings>Advanced Settings>Troubleshoot and I get the error "Your current display driver does not allow changes to be made to the hardware acceleration settings" any idea on how to fix this? Thanks.

    State your graphics card please. It's probably easier to help when we know exactly what you have so that past experience with specific problem cards can be used as a guide.

    It could possibly mean your current driver version doesn't allow hardware acceleration, have you tried changing the hardware acceleration feature with other drivers?

    I haven't on the laptop but I went to my old computer with XP and I was able to change it

    EDIT: The computer graphic driver is ATI Radeon 9200

    Different drivers and different operating systems. Narrow down the difference to one variable and see if the hardware acceleration feature still refuses to change on your laptop.

    Make your desktop and laptop use the same driver version OR have the same OS installed. That way the only difference between the two is either the driver or the OS and you can then tell what is preventing your laptop from changing hardware acceleration.

    ATI doesn't have a unified drivers architecture like Nvidia though.

    I can't either on my 8600M GT on 177.35. Not allowing changes does not mean that hardware acceleration if off. I doubt you could turn on Aero if it was off

    Hardware acceleration page should be visible also in Vista regardless of driver version. Might be disabled if Aero is enabled. Make sure your drivers are correctly uninstalled and reinstalled: http://www.tweakguides.com/ATICAT_3.html (don't follow the links though, they are for desktop cards)
