    Hello,
I have always wanted to play that game.
However with my old 8600m GT that game would not really work.
I will give it a try with my 4670M soon though :p

    cheers

I just bought FSX not long ago as well. I'm equally a noob when it comes to 'real' flight simulators so I can't compare it to others. However, I'm enjoying going thru the tutorials and the game...erm sim...has a lot of variety. There's also a really huge FSX community where you can get advice, mods, and whole lot of info about the sim.

Fwiw, I do not play FSX on my laptop. I can get a much better experience playing on my specific gaming desktop w/ 24" monitor.

There's a few members here that are more experienced with FSX and other flight simulators that will perhaps pop in to answer your questions.

In the meantime here are a few of threads in regards to FSX and flight peripherals that may be helpful.

I play it all the time and if you want a challenge i higly reccomend FSX. I enjoy the sim alot but i wish my laptop could play the game on higher settings.

You dont have to use the ingame aircraft all the time because there is a huge modding community, some are payware and some are free.

I use to use the Saitek AV8TOR joystick but now i use Saitek X52 HOTAS, both are great but make usre you get a joystick that allows full range or movement so you can use the rudders.

Yep, can't recommend it enough.... the best sim out in my opinion... And, the gold pack includes the Acceleration Expansion pack, so a great deal too!

Have fun! A joystick is great, but even the Xbox 360 pad plays it well too... that's what I actually usually play with despite having multiple joysticks/throttles laying around. Buttons map out perfectly.

I play it every day. Run great, maxed out on my laptop (with a little OC of course). I used to use a joystick system, but found the XBOX 360 controller and KB combo to be the most efficient for me.

One of these days I'll figure out how to land on auto pilot.

Yes, it is a good game, but it can be a pain in the arse to get up and running with half decent performance and GFX.

Erm, you can't autoland any plane in FSX without using third-party payware, you can however figure out how to use the approach hold settings to automatically get the plane on the correct glideshope (On ILS equipped runways of course), but you will have to manually land it yourself. It's not too hard, try it with the Boeing 737-800, it's my favorite plane (In SWA colors :D).

I enjoy it when I play it; it's a lot different than flying jet fighters in Lock On. That said, It frustrates me that both the graphics and performance look like crap when compared to Lock On, even though I play both on the same hardware.

I think you can still download the demo.

I downloaded the demo for free a while a go but it didnt run very well on my weak graphics card.

Hmm, suprised the graphics look like crap for ya on any machine that will run Crysis anywhere remotely near max or even medium or high.... for a while I was playing it on my Tablet and it still looked decent...
