Finally... a change in pace in the WW2 shooter... Wolfenstein is re-imagined. Looks decent, seems like a half decent plot, and the graphics are nice.... just want to see more of this game. Thoughts?

Information is too limited to make a good call on it right now, but I always have enjoyed our original classics Wolfenstein & Doom when they make good sequels.

Speaking of that, isn't it about time for a new Doom game?

I'm very much looking forward to this game, along with D4 (Dee Three had a nice ring to it! :D).

.... which don't justify three times the horsepower as mentioned in the other thread, do they ? Badly optimized / over-rated game ?

    D3...? is that on PC.

I remember D as a kid on the sega saturn, was the coolest game gave me a good little scare since I was little and in the dark when I played.

Too bad games dont have that effect on me anymore as an Adult. Wish I could turn back the clock sometimes. Heck Final Fantasy 3 (FF6) really had a strong impression on me as a kid too.

Oh I thought that but when you spelled it out as Dee 3 I thought you did that on purpose to mean "D"

Its a crazy game meant to actually stress you out. You have 24 hours real time to beat the game. Its like resident evil, meets zelda, meets I dunno. Very little actual fighting if any at all just crazy mind twisting puzzles and the whole setting is creepy and you have to not die. Its hard to explane. Great game tho.

No saves, 24 hours. Do it.

    I found a little thing for D : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzOVIu7BNoM

The game really made you fear for your life man, you would walk into a room and suddenly spikes pop out of the wall and the walls start moving in so you gotta figure out how to get out of there fast, you maybe were already awake for 10 hours and its dark in the room ect. Man I miss that game.

The other thread mentioned it requires 3 times the horsepower than Doom 3 required, and yet it doesn't look anything close to impressive for that amount!

In fact, it looks to me like a slightly improvised version of Doom 3, that's all!

Doom 4 is years off. If you read the interviews, they've only done preliminary work. They don't even have the story worked out yet.

Prasad, it's going to use the Tech 5 engine like Rage: http://kotaku.com/gaming/clips/rage-285996.php

Looks like it will be lightyears better than Doom 3.

    ...

I bet the game will omit healthpacks, to make way to a more "modern" health system (like halo, gow, cod etc.) and explore the players troubled past.

I'm with you there. But have to admit, at 31 years of age when playing Doom 3, I still screamed like a little girl in numerous locations. Had the crap scared out of me several times. The audio is really what made that game so intense. I tried playing without the headphones on, and completely boring experience. At least the first half of the game was slow and intense, but later it just got silly.

Now back on topic, I am looking forward to Wolfenstein as well. I never did finish the original single player game. Will have to go do that now.

headphones work good, especially with the 3dCMSS mode on an X-Fi but get yourself a good theater speaker setup and a big sub and its even better on the speakers. Bass is felt much more than its heard so when you shoot a big f'n gun and the room shakes it makes it much more realistic. That and a 37" monitor helps put you in the game too :p

I second that recommendation on a good speaker setup. I could never go back to headphone gaming (unless it's late of course!)

Having a wife and child who sleep lightly kind of necessitates a good set of headphones (Sennheiser for me). Prior to that, though, I had a nice 5.1 setup with a kickin' woofer.

Now that I think about it, I think I had the Zalman 5.1 headphones at the time. They were a little heavy, but the sound was actually pretty phenomenal despite what other reviews said. Eventually my cat gnawed through a couple wires so it was time to get a new set (and kick the cat).
