Hi all, first of all i'd like to apologize for creating new topic, but i haven't found right one to help me with my problem. I'm having problems runing old games like Red alert 2 or Cossacs ( if you still remember those games haha ) The problem is game fps is very low and it's lags as hell, somewhere i heared that it could be because of new nvidia cards/drivers. Waiting for your answers and help how i can play normaly. By the way my pc specification:
OS: Win Vista
PC: Hp pavilion dv5-1040en
Ram: 4gb
Proc: Intel Dual Core p8400 @ 2.26Ghz 2,27 Ghz
Card: Nvidia Geforce 9600M Gt

Well morninig soundwave, its always nice to see a new face on here. You probably have antique drivers on your laptop which is the main prob. You can look over at laptopvideo2go.com and use moded drivers.
-
http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/159-19x-series-geforce-driver-releases/
Youll need the inf labeled NVfu.inf.Its packaged with 190.40 driver. -
ok so im downloading now 190.40 release, i hope it helps
-
when i run setup i get message " The NVIDIA setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will Now exit " Any ideas? ;/
-
did you get the driver from laptop2go? if so in the folder there is a rar file called addtional INF, uncompress the rar file into that same folder and it should solve your problem
-
New drivers will not help for red Alert 2, it will still lagg and suffer slow downs regardless. That game was designed for Windows 98 and the only way I have managed to play with no issues is from within a virtual environment running Windows XP SP2. Try VMware workstation or VirtualBox.

Is it just me, or does Nightmear321's sig line stretch the page out a bunch?
(may want to lok at that - makes me scroll to read posts...)

go to the NVDIA website and download the official 186.81 drivers. You should have no problem. Also go to the HP website and download the latest drivers for ur laptop..
-
downloading latest drivers for my laptop? you allready see my problem hehe :/ that's so strange. LaptopNut said that it was only designed for XP and 98, then how about other older games? hehe :/
-
i've tried vmware for runing cossacks, but still, when i enter game i can't see my mouse but i can click, i believe it's because i don't have video driver installed or smth :/
-
I think your going to have to go with the virtual windows 98 method, a lot of the the older games were indeed designed for an older OS, obviously, so compatibility is sometimes an issue.
As LaptopNut said, try running it in a virtual W98 using one of those programs.
EDIT: oh so it didnt work? Maybe try an older driver? I found I had problems with a lot of the newer ones myself when I had an Nvidia card.
Also make sure while your running in, in the Task Manager, ctl+alt+delete, that you only have one core affinity set, I find this helps a lot sometimes with the older games. -
To the op try running red alert 2 in compatability mode for 98, then once the game is running set the core affinity to 1 core and see if it helps. -
well i have laptop, and even when i try to download older drivers, it gives error, i can install only one video driver which for laptops only :/

Are you doing it correctly? The drivers are modded, Nvidia really didnt like giving mobile cards drivers for a while, so the inf was modded to make the drivers "see" your card and install. You have to replace the original INF with the new one and then it should install properly.
ALSO
Nvidia now supports mobile card drivers, I would suggest using theirs over the modded ones, just go to their website. -
I was only talking about Red Alert 2 when I suggested using VMWare, I don't know anything about cossacks. Also I find running all of the old Command & Conquer titles works better in an XP SP2 virtual OS as opposed to Windows 98. I found Windows 98's lack of Direct3D support when compared to XP an issue.

about what INf are you talking about?
Have a problem here runing old games
