I just got a laptop with a X1600 in it and I want to install the latest Catalyst drivers. The last time I tried it said it didn't recognize the system or something like that any help would be appreciated.

You probably downloaded the desktop drivers. Windows/Microsoft Update should give you the right drivers. If not look for the X1600 driver that has the word "Mobility" with it.
-
Go to www.omegadrivers.net and download the drivers from there. They're much better than ATI's official ones.

This problem happens a lot. The companies usually only let you download their drivers and not ati's for warranty purposes or just to cover their asses more.
Follow the direct link at the top of the page and it will work. -
2xAA of 6.12 looks like 4xAA of 6.9 to give you an idea.
And my 3dmark05 scores are 2570 for 6.12 and 2600 for omega 6.9, not a big difference. -
I downloaded the Omega drivers. I over clocked it to core:500 and mem:549.
The defaults were 450 and 475. Am I ok or should i back it down? -
Have you run 3DMark 05 to see if it artifacts?
