Hawken will be free to play, comes out in December

Very exciting looking Mech Game. I've already applied for the Closed Beta. They also throw in a referral link. If 3 people you know click and register, they'll "Reserver your callsign". Whatever that means.

Game is expected to be released at 12/12/12

Yep. Heard about this one for some time now. It looks good and gameplay looks pretty decent. I'm looking forward to it. :)

Hawken beta 2 has started and it's a great game for a free game. The developers did a fantastic job on the details on the mechas, the buildings, environment etc. It all looks good and game does feel like you are in a mecha. It's by far the most polished, best looking indie game I've tried so far.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but found this after a search.... Curious, anybody playing this? I just installed the open beta, liking it so far! It's a nice change of pace. Graphics look cool and it performs well. Of course, I've always had a weak spot for mechanized combat. Been playing a few rounds and even as a level 1 starting out it seems pretty well balanced, which is often not the case in F2P games. Will see how things progress, but overall it's a promising package, especially for free!

It's fun but after a while you just see it as a fps game more than a mech game...that's the biggest problem I have with it

Yeah, it does have a bit of FPS feel, but so far at least has it's own mech elements... heat, loadout, repair, maneuverability and speed all come in to play. I think what I enjoy over the typical FPS is the pacing... seems a bit deeper than the common run and gun chaos of a COD I'm so bad at. Time will tell how it ages!

Oddly I love the sound of scraping my Mech along a wall when I get too close... fun little details
