I have a VGN-FZ470E with T8100, and 8400M GT.
When I game for few hours, the GPU rises up to 75 degrees and 68 degrees for CPU. Since heat decreases the life span, does gaming on a laptop shorten how long it's going to last? If so, what measures can I take so that I can still play games yet keep the laptop as long as possible?
Thanks!

Buy a cooling pad, and always keep your fans/vents clean of dust. Check out the Cooling Section in the "Hardware" section of the forum.

Yes heat does does shorten the life span of Integrated Circuits. But does that mean it is critical? Not necessarily, if it's lifespan was 10 years heat shortens to 6? For most people not a big deal.
How about you define as long as possible for us? I don't think you mean 10 years? I doubt you mean much past 3 or 4 years.
Steps you can take include undervolting CPU, any heat reduction in an enclosed space will have an affect on all components within that confined space. Notebook cooler is an option also. These can be used in combination for increased benefit.
Those temps do not cause me concern as I think they are in a "normal operating" range and should not cause premature failure due to heat factors. Short of some as of know unknown design flaw. Those do happen. -
Those temperatures you just posted are perfectly acceptable for most laptops. While heat can reduce the lifespan of your laptop, I wouldnt worry about it. To me, it kinda feels like saying driving reduces the lifespan of your car. Of course using it intensively will shorten the lifespan, but thats what its for in my opinion.
But it is probably a good idea to use a cooling pad. Depending on the layout of your system this can have a considerable impact on the temperatures. I bought the antec notebook cooler S and am very satisfied with it. definitely recommended. -
75C? That's cool enough. Don't worry
68C seems high on the CPU though, T8100 is a 45nm penryn right? 68C is the temperature my E4500 reaches in my C90S so.... It's still acceptable though -
I found this very interesting article about it. If you get to do the calculations, please let us know (I'm way too lazy for doing it myself), so we can have an idea of a case situation.
