I have hear news that the single player demo will be released today, so I immediately check right after i get home. Guess what.. I found it on fileshack and few other site, but non of them are too credible. I only trust fileshack so I am downloading from there. However, all the host seems to have the same file size, so it did made it more convincing for me. I am waiting in line to download atm, will report back with the result. Anyone else who wish to get it here is the link:

Does hellgate have DX10? I can't remember... I'm downloading it here : http://www.gamedaily.com/games/hellgate-london/pc/game-downloads/hellgate-london-demo/4251/7197/
at a decent speed -
Nice... finished downloading in 15 minutes.
Used getbot on gamespot's link and got more than 1000kb/s all the time. Runs very well on my Go7950GTX as well.

The demo is good overall. Needs a little polish but all the quests are fun and unique. Skills are fun to use ! Definitely a buy for me
-
is this a game for online players? it seems to me like a good adventure for single players but i haven't really heard anything remarkable about multiplayer
-
lol... joey=wirt

Yes. Play online. All the time. NOW. If i could. Halloween. Can't wait.

I break it down into pros and cons
Pro:
1) Semi to really Well optimised Engine, 8600m gt at 1280 x 800 with everything set to high no AA, triple buffer enabled, no V-Syn. I get around 30 on average, 17 on huge open area, and 50+ in a room, etc.
2) Original Story and Game play, very obvious, it is pretty much the game's sell point. =D
3) Nice special effects, Snows, Ashes, and Fires, etc
4) Cool and fun Skills
Cons:
1) Graphic - not so good, it looks much like a game that came out in 2005. Hear me out, there is ALOT i meant alot of stuff on the screen, but it's all really Blocky, like the bricks, Buildings, Poles, even NPC looks a *little* like Lego Pieces. (To me). Some building walls looks 2-D ish, only at a certain angle will it look more 3D.
2) Unrealistic Feel to the Game - you can walk through certain in Game NPC seeing all the "Inside" of the character - polygon styles. You can walk on to a sharpe object designed to stop you in track like a barbwire wall, or a spike on the ground or even a pile of fire, you receive Zero Damage.
3) The Physics were good but nothing like Half Life 2, Ragdolls - none, dead enemy becomes statistic objects, and NPC/Monster AI sometimes acts slightly on the idiotic side - such as walking into a wall and get stuck then takes time to re-route back out, I guess that can be fixed easily.
Overall, the game is Meh to Me, remember this is my opinion on the game, please download the demo to see for yourself, how you like this game. It doesn't impress me doesn't mean it wouldn't impress you. -
If all this is true, only minor drawbacks to a game i've been drooling over for a year and a half now. That being said i don't think the people behind diablo 2 would release the game with such noticeable flaws, but how much can they fix in 2 weeks?
-
i am torn. i really want to like the game. i can see myself playing the retail. like a poster said above me, it needs some more polish but hence the demo.
also, it runs almost fine at native res with highest settings. honestly plays a little better one step down.
also, please forgive me if i feel that some elements like questtracker quest marks, etc are borrowed from other rpgs like WOW. which is a GOOD thing! it helps a lot -
-
Look at the rocks at the bottom left as an example of blocky rocks, and the 2005 graphics I was talking about. =(
-
oh i didn't know the game already went gold. honestly, it reminds me of a solo FALLOUT + WoW + diablo.
one thing that irritates me is the funny way i run. my feet dont' seem to move. -
it's pretty fun... i wonder what online is going to be like. I hope it's more interesting. The gameplay isn't bad, but I don't really know what I'm doing lol... And I kinda hope there's at least a little bit of social aspect to the game... even if it's not much just a little bit lol. I know that's not what the games about. Do you have to pay for online play? I guess would think so, but I don't know for sure.
-
it is pretty fun. i do agree, the demo graphics are nothing compared to HL2
the skill system is a little confusing at first -

It reminds me of phantasy star online, mixed with diablo. Infact thats pretty much exactly what it is. While it seems fun... I can tell it will get super dull very fast for me.
If you have alot of time to kill and have one of those "I like to be the strongest guy in the world" complexes that keep people going in games like this because your willing to plow thru the endless hordes of repetitive enemies and gameplay for the same gear you arleady have but with different numbers for the stats and different colors for the graphics just so you can be better than your friends and other people online.... Well then...
It may appeal to you. If not I think there are many other games that justify your free time much more. -
-
I just got another invite to a special beta testing stage, nightmare mode + lvl50 level cap
Too bad I'm loaded with assignments, labs, midterms and my job, bleh -
Give to me, Cori!!!
I got super busy trying to get my records together to get back into college and haven't had much time to play over the last week or so . . . -
Didnt like this game at all. Maybe its just not for me. All equip is the same, graphics are ok. Try it and maybbe you like it. I would say that Diablo 2 is more interesting then this.
-
-
cant wait for full game! so there will be pay to play in this? gay
-
-
Paying for the subscription is optional, you can play online for free. With the $10 a month you just get some extra things. What will be interesting to see is whether or not PvP becomes unbalanced between non-subscribers vs. subscribers, that would be a major problem for me.
-
Bad demo... The demo even contains adware...
-
It's amazing what final tweaks and tuning can be done in 2-3 months time.
But have to commend them for making the system requirements fairly low.
- WinXP SP2 or Vista
- 1.8GHz CPU (2.4GHz for Vista)
- 1GB RAM (2GB for Vista)
- DirectX 9.0c/10 video with 128MB RAM and Pixel Shader 2.0 (GeForce 6200 or Radeon 9000)
- DirectX 9.0c Audio
- 8x DVD
- 6GB HDD Space
I was thinking this was going to be a hefty rig game, which I would just play on my desktop, but the more laptop friendly games the betterIt doesn't even require a dual-core CPU. I am noticing that RPG's are typically less graphically intensive, and concentrate on the unit abilities, and overall gameplay, which is fine by me.
That being said, perhaps the graphics won't improve a whole heck of a lot, but would be curious what DirectX 10 would have to offer. -
i actually quite enjoyed this demo. its definitely got the diablo feel on it but not too much. im kinda stuck on the demo - dont really know what to do next but i'll definitely be getting the game when it comes out.
as for multiplayer i dont know about this game... i think its a solid single player experience but in no way will i pay money to play online and get the extra perks.
still a great single player slasher. cant wait for the release. -
it has dx10

Might do a review of this game, not a fan of rpgs though. Ill see. Do you guys want this reviewd? Don't want to do a review of a game people are set on buying.

is there a way to "beat/complete" the demo? or does it just keep going.......
just a lil confused at where im at - i still have this note or whatever i was given in the beginning from dr whatever his name is. -
This was taken back around Sept 26th 2007, so it's very outdated, but it looks fine with a x700 Pentium M 1.8ghz -
-
thanks for the screens
personally I dont see why the fps should be that low, the graphics dont look too demanding, performance should improve with the final release or a patch i hope -
I can easily get playable FPS in DX10 with medium settings at 1440x1050. I can lower the draw distance and play at 1680x1050.
Edited to add, playable for me in an RPG is consistent 25-30 with no drops below 20. -
An fyi, this game runs fine on a GMA 950 1200x800 lowest settings, in fact i could probably sacrifice a few fps to use some better settings. I'm not sure what fps i was getting in game but it was definitely playable. I haven't tried this with my Radeon 9550 but im sure i can do med settings on 1024x768 comfortably.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
I can't really tell if I like the game or not, I played the demo, then I checked my email right after, and I got into the beta(I had signed up weeks and weeks ago surprised I didn't get in earlier, but that's because they didn't ask about experience
)Anyways, playing it offline was MUCH better. Everything you do online seemed to have a 1-3 second lag, maybe it's because the server was going to go down in a few hours, or maybe the server just wasn't made for the number of people+increase in population it was getting, but everything was slower.
Now it's true that the game isn't AWESOME looking, the textures kind of look like the early Source Beta to me, but the people don't look like legos if you ask me. It's a very respectable looking game, I can argue that UT3 looks like garbage, so why can't this game look good? I can't say anything about DX9 va DX10 as I don't often feel like going over to my Vista install.
It feels kind of slow at start, especially in the demo area, but after that everything seems to start picking up. Though I seriously hope the armor and weapons start to look different. I almost just stayed in my starting clothing because I thought it was nicer looking then some of the early armor I was getting, and a lot of the stuff looks similar, but that's true of most RPGs early on eh.
The game should be fun, I'd think anyone who likes Diablo/Diablo II, or would like to play a FPS as an RPG(one of the class types, if you played the demo you should probably know)Well just guns in general really. As always you'll have to decide for yourself if the game is worth it. For me, it was bumped from a maybe, to a probably.
Oh and please, if the in game ads bother you, your real life must be hell. It isn't nearly as bad as everyone has been yelling about, I haven't seen everyone yelling about it. I see some nvidia here and there, some Intel. It's usually on a wall, in a subway station. I've also seen people up in arms about the 3. statement in the agreement, the one that doesn't really say anything. The one that essentially makes it so you could sue them if they do identify you in any way......I've yet to see anyone give me a real reason to be scared of it. -

Im very tempted to get the game, it will be a good time killer at work (unfortunatly I found out 1 player char is not tied to your online game) but on my pretty strong desktop I have a slideshow in some areas when they are wide open with missing animations from attacking enemies and have had a few CTD's.
2.8ghz opteron 148
7800gtx
2gb ram
and its not even close to "recomended" spects but well above minimum. Lowering the settings did not fixt he issue so its not a frames per second issue its a bug/glych. Its hard to dodge attacks you cant see :/ -
Now that I think about, I think I did CTD once or twice. I must've gotten back in fast enough for me not to care though, so that's good.

I find graphics ok, but it can be better. Demo leaves you with no end wandering around (at least it happened to me). And the underground station caused a huge slowdown on my comp - like down to 15 fps, while in the streets it was around 30-50 or more. All at 1280x800. Low settings helped a bit, but not too much. It must be something with Vista. I also had to install a patch (KB940105), otherwise demo wouldn't start.
Cheers,
