Anyone get into the beta testing?
I'm currently 27% into the client download, should be done in 5 hours, but that'll be at 3am~, and I have to wake up at 5am for my 8am lecture, so I should be trying it tomorrow evening![]()
Of course, the beta testing is under NDA, so anyone looking forward to the game? It's Flagship Studio's first release, ever since breaking off what was Blizzard North(under Diablo and Diablo II fame).
Release is October 30th![]()

pre-ordered it sunday

I preordered it this morning at about 3am. I don't have the beta invite yet and I won't be participating either because I have a slow internet so it's not worth it. Come Halloween night though no one will speak to me for DAYS!
-
I still don't know if I'm sold yet, thus trying out the beta. I'm not a fan of FPS, cause I get motion sickness and all, but perhaps it won't be that bad. Hopefulyl speaking that is.

Hellgate London isn't a FPS if you don't want it to be. There's a third person and first person perspective option. Just choose which way you want to play. This is more of an RPG than a FPS.
-
i've gotten into the beta
, its excellent. They're actually adding a patch I think possibly tomorrow thats gonna wipe all the chars. Right now they have the beta server but its still on the alpha test server. The switch should be happening soon.
It runs really good on my laptop, it took me awhile to figure out that i needed to launch it from the dx9.exe. I get about 30-75 fps on everything maxed out except AA at 12??x800 -
What are you system specs? I have a 1520 with 8600M GT and I've been worried about having frameskip/stuttering issue in the game. It would really ease my worrying if a 8600M GT owner would let me know how the game is playing.
-
your laptop specs?
-
Sounds nice, at 77% right now. I guess when I wake up in a few hours(huge thunderstorm outside, can't sleep cause its humid and feels like 39 degrees here argh) I'll start the install before going to my lectures.
I've heard HGL's is quite scalable, I'll see how my x700 can handle it. -

I was intrested in the game at first but the in game footage changed my mind, I have to wait for it to be out for a while and see what people thing before I would buy, its looking kind of boring and super repetitive to me.
Some people love that kind of game, heck even I do but I would rather play something like phantasy star online. -
Can I ask something about the specs?
Can a 1.66 GHz, Duo processor with 256MB NVIDIA GeForce, 120BG HDD, Windows XP play the Hellgate London? -
if that Geforce is a 6600/7400 or higher shouldnt be a problem.
-
Got my copy today.
I don't have the hard space to install it just yet, LOL. Where'd it go...
edit: Heh, forgot to uninstall the HGL beta.
-
congrats dude.. i played the beta for over 3 weeks..
Waiting for my collector's edition.. hopefully i will get it within these few days..
And oh I played it on my m1330, it was smooth with med settings.. still abit suprised with the power of 8400gs.. -
Yea, same, I started the beta during the 2nd week of September.
HGL runs fantastic(Max res, medium settings) on my 2 year old notebook! -
Everything runs very smooth on high for me in DX9. The DX10 code needs some work yet, frame rates drop significantly when in DX10 mode.
-
Yeah, I have the Collector's Edition on the way! Unfortunately UPS drops off at our house really late in the day >.<. Must save my character names!

Any updates on this?
how is the game? I'm thinking about getting it since they say it's the successor of Diablo 2 (until d3 comes out).
So... how is it? Whats it like? And is there a subscription fee? -

I cancled my sub awhile back to wait for bug fixes and some content update but I think I just got charged for this month....
I cant say how the game is doing since I have not played in a couple of months, It has its merits but has a long way to go before it will be ground breaking and rememberable like Diablo 2 (not to mention standards of gamers have gone way up and its hard to find a game these days just based on its originality and quality vs content and graphics) -
True Vicious, i got the rig in my sig (lol "rig in my sig") mid december and haven't even installed hellgate yet just so it can get fixed and i can have a consistent enjoyable experience. It hasn't quite reached the addictiveness of D2 but its getting there.
On the topic, what fixes do you guys want to see? -
Hrm... well, I played through the demo (I didn't think there was one) with both the blademaster and the guy who uses guns. I played through 3 times, and it was pretty inconsistent. One of my toons got to level 2 before I made it through the first gate, neither of the other two did. One got several special weapons and other items, none of the others got anything to nice.
I prefer the FPS perspective of the gunner to the third person of the blademaster.
It seems fun, but based partly on the demo experience and on what you two have said, I'll wait a bit. I'm glad that they don't force you to pay, but I think I'll wait a bit before shelling $50 out. -
If you want a game very much like Diablo 2, and you don't already own it, I recommend you give Titan Quest a try. You can download the demo from: http://original.titanquestgame.com/
If you like Titan Quest I recommend getting the Immortal Throne expansion with it since it fixes bugs, ands content, and provides some improved visuals.
Currently I'd say stick with the free online play version of Hellgate if you decide to go that way. I decided not to subscribe with my founders offer since I felt what little (if any benefit) of subscription was not worth the money Flagship wanted. -
I've got Titan Quest downloaded from Steam, but it won't run :-/
I may try on my PC tonight... it sounds really cool. I like both FPS and the top down Diablo style games.
Come on Blizz... where is our D3? I know you've been hiring authors to write books, wheres our bloody d3?
