Hellgate London Beta Players

Just wanted to see who else here is in the beta. If you preordered the game you get in. So thats how I got in.

I have to say, the game is fun and addicting for the fact I like to hunt for better equipment and max out my character. I have a lvl 18 marksman and just started a summoner. I have had very little luck with parties have been solo all but 2 times, this is good meaning its possible to solo, but bad because it kind of kills the whole mmorpg aspect of the game.

I think this may change in retail as more people will be playing so there should be more opportunities for a party.

So I rate the game a 7/10 its good, but will definitly get old over time depending on your game prefrences. With a montly fee to play the game like its supposed to be played its hard to call it a great game and thus why the score is not higher. If it was free to play for full access it would be a solid 8 or 9/10.

Lets hope the retail fixes the few flaws of the beta.


So as a beta player, what class and level are you and how do you like the game?

I have a level 21 summoner, a level 11 summoner, a level 6 blademaster, and a level 5 evoker. I LOVE summoner and blademaster, but couldn't stand evoker. I'm still not sure what class I'll play at release--I want to get my blademaster higher and see how she does at higher levels. I haven't done any grouping yet; there just hasn't been a need.

There are still tons of irritating bugs in the current release, especially in DX10. I'm hoping most of these will be fixed in the retail version. I also hope they deliver on their promises of more varied environments.

 

Level 7 templar.. they are wiping all the beta characters this Friday so just don't feel like leveling up my char anymore... I like the game, but they really need to fix all those issues like dx10 sloppiness and memory leak.

Ok , this is really confusing... hmmm , i received an invitation as a beta tester 2 days ago, I created an account yesterday and I'm still downloading the game. Now i read that the NDA for the beta is over ! What's going on, am i just wasting my time downloading it ?

Unfortunately, I don't have much time to play it anymore yet, have a really busy schedule til this Friday, hopefully they don't take long to wipe it in the morning

In beta, have a couple hard core toons, highest being hard core level 22 evoker, been loving the game, despite some of the bugs, I do hope they nail all the crash bugs by release date. I have very little bad to say about the game, I worry about the new "Elite" mode they added, I hope it was not just added to appease some players, I also worry if the new mode will fragment the player base more. But then again we have no idea how that will work till we get to play the real game. I'll be playing HGL for aleast a year or two, I played DII for 4+ years hard core only. So who knows.

I have the day off work all day with nothing to do and looks like servers are down :/

 

I think I like Templar the best, and then the Engineer....well I would like the Engineer, but it seems somewhat of a broken class to me...and then Marksmen.

The game does have boring all over it though, for me. I think I might enjoy going through the single player, but even though I have three different characters all over 12, I've yet to be in a party, and I've looked. Maybe groups just at a higher level I don't know. I'm still not sold on the game really, and the "paid" part of the mp seems like a rip to me.

 

Chances are that there will be many more retail players (obviously) so if you can't find a party right now it doesn't surprise me. I can't believe the demo ran on my GMA 950, and i was getting close to 30 fps in outdoor areas! Inside the tunnels and stuff i was almost hitting 40! Me and my friends still pop in some D2 every once and a while and i bet we'll be playing this longer (Diablo 2 is a great game, but the visuals are starting to get dated ). I hope the final cut gets rid of the majority of bugs, and then a patch eliminates the rest. Summoner FTW even though i haven't played one yet, i hope they are awesome.

 

darn it already seems like coriolis's extra beta was already taken...but if anybody has an extra one...may i please have it?...i will bake you a cookie...lol kidding...

the game looks pretty cool....how does this MMO stack up against other MMO such as WoW or CoH/V...

 

It's in a class of its own, don't try compare to WoW, or DDO. Its more comparable to DII, or think of it as DII meets DOOM.

Download the demo ... thats available to everyone.

EDIT: it does seem interesting...i just got done watching some videos of them on youtube and i like it...and as far as the demo goes...ill probably DL it, but i was reading some comments on the demo saying it's not a real good representation of the game..

 

I'm in, level 17 engineer. Loving it so far but looking forward to some patches being deployed.
Pre-ordered the normal game a couple weeks ago.

 

talking about Diablo 2... has anyone of you guys tried Mythos yet? If not go ask for an invitation at the FSS forum... Mythos is even more like the Diablo 2 IMO...

 

Once Friday comes around, I'll make a thread or add to this thread about multiplayer play and if anyone wants to join up and 'raid' stuff

We'll just post our character names and hopefully FSS has fixed the friends list.

IMO, not worth the $50 and the monthly fee. I played the alpha for a very short time, and have had the beta for almost a month. It just doesn't keep you motivated. Plus, the multiplayer aspect is too narrow of a path, you can't really branch off and do the things you would like, it's too structured. I don't like the way when you're out roaming around the town, that you're in your own world, and not seeing other players. It detracts from the reality of the game. Overall, the controls are intuitive, the graphics are gorgeous, but it's mediocre at best. I've already cancelled my pre-order. Gimme my $50 BACK!!! LOL.
