I remember there were a few of us looking forward to this game and I think most of us stopped playing after a short while due to the games beta like state.

But just wondering who still plays and how things have evolved. I installed the game again today because I wanted to give it a shot at full settings with DX10 o n my new computer to see the graphics that were just a dream before (and it works new system with 1920x1080 MAX everything DX10 30fps min looks sooo good)

I may play it some just for the graphics :p but I dont think a subscription is an option at this point.

I think many people just wanted to play because it was supposed to be the new Diablo, but now with the actual new Diablo on the way.. I bet this game will lose many of its subscribers.

HGL is no longer as crash-prone as it previously was... actually runs stable for me now. DX10 performance has improved considerably. The subscription content makes the game much more fun, but not enough to justify $10/month. I have a founder's lifetime-sub account, so that isn't an issue for me. The Abyss Chronicles for HGL are due for release some time in July and will give the game more features that should have been there from the start.

I'm so eager to see Diablo3 as well. I just reloaded Diablo2 just to get ready :)

I have actually never played either diablo before. Is Hellgate truly like a Diablo 3 (besides the actual diablo 3)? Because if it is, the actual diablo 3 is going to be disappointing for me at least.

lol, if you have even remotely followed the release and post release news on hellgate, you'll see most people didn't like it because it WASN'T even a remotely addicting follow up to diablo 2. Go find diablo two battle chest in a bargain bin somewhere and do yourself a favor and play it. But make sure you don't have anything to do for the next few days.

Oh, if only Diablo 2 Battle Chest WAS a bargain bin game. Damn thing still costs around $40.

A couple months ago the /who command was removed from Hellgate because it was revealing about 500 players around peak times. A lot of people were concerned about Hellgate's future because of these low numbers and began stating their concern on the official forums.

Of course, the hellgate Devs denied this /who number had anything to do with the actual number of people playing, but in the end the command was removed.

Even if the /who command did not give an accurate indication of the player-base, the fact remains that this command was revealing over 20k players around Hellgate's release. 20k to 500 is a pretty big fall. I don't think this game will survive another year.

I remember when I got this game due to the hype, but was disappointed when it crashed 3 times while I was trying to make my character. That was a turn-off for me.

It runs so great now, the game is a real visual treat in DX10 with max settings. The lighting is probably the best I have ever seen, I may just keep it installed as a time killer here and there because thats what this kind of game and even diablo is good for, killing time. Go kill some stuff for uber rarez.

Crysis is not working for me i get artifacts

COD4 was freaking great but i beat it already

BF2142 & BF2 are great but I get too addicted and played them too much

Grid just is not too fun for me

    Portal beat

TF2 just doesnt hold my attention too long

so as you can see I need something to kill time with :p

UT3 warfare is my cup-of-tea. Lots more to do than just blindlessly frag. And the vehicles are freaking sweet.

But I heard Hellgate is doing much better in Asia? I might actually buy it to see whats up.

HGL had some flaws from the beta - some uninspired bland random levels and stuff, but I liked the melee combat and the armors was sweet. The Diablo 3 video made me crave for loot crazy games.

I think I might buy HGL and Titan Quest.

From what I hear HGL is a much better game than it used to be, and its so cheap now that I dont mind checking it out!

Yeah I had it installed the other day before I broke my computer lol, just did a few offline bot matches to see how it runs on the new comp, maxed out no problems looked really good.

Last time I tried to play online tho I didnt have much fun, I really missed Onslaught mode, but I guess they added that in, in a new form. It was only the demo I played so the full game is better I am sure.

Omg, unreal tournament has got to be one of the best series ever made. Was a little disappointed in ut3 though. Though the graphics are nice, it's still not as fast-paced as ut2k4 was....

If anyone feels brave enough to take on my godlike skillz in UT2k4 (yes, I still play it :p ), plz PM me. I'd be more than happy to oblige to a friendly deathmatch :)

Warfare = new Onslaught. Basically the same except that each side gets one orb to quickly capture and/or protect nodes. Makes the games go MUCH faster and helps break stalemate monotonies. The vehicles are much nicer and better balanced as well.

UT2k4 had much better map variety. It seems like the current UT3 servers out there only run the default maps and not much else :( The reason for this is that UT3 servers don't do a good job of downloading maps to individual players in a timely manner (I guess their file sizes are much larger).

Speedwise, the UT3 orbs really accelerate game play. I remember how ONS-Torlan used to drag on for the full match time in UT2k4. In UT3, torlan barely clears 5 minutes in some speed matches (orb carriers getting lift from raptors = doom for the other team).

Does anyone remember the face map from the original UT? It was the map where there was a long rock floating in space and had two towers on it, each one on opposite ends. I got that map for UT3 and it looks great. My fav thing to do is to get the redeemer, hide in a safe place, and then manually control it to blow some ppl up.

Yeah face map was hours of entertainment sitting on top of the rock mindlessly sniping bots :p

Hellgate was really a pretty bad game. It's an insult to compare it to Diablo 2. No where near the depth or character development that Diablo 2 had. The gameplay is too boring after the initial new shinyness wore off.

HGL has gotten a lot better, but only in multi-player mode. The HGL test center has the 2.0 patch loaded, and it does bring considerable improvements to the game. However, the 2.0 patch won't be deployed to the live servers until the end of July, and you need to be a subscriber (or founder) to access some of the new content.

has there ever been a successful Blizzard spin off that actually managed to create a classic blizzard-like game? so much hype was made for bill roper and crew but ended up not even meeting the standards of ArenaNet :(

Did you think AoC is a let down? Any particular reason? I stopped playing the game because it takes too much. Full time job with full time school AND AoC does not work out. But then again I figured I'm not that big into MMOs.

Theres just so many animation glitches with monsters are stuff that just takes away from the experience cause you have to stop and go "wtf was that?!". I thought at first it may have been my laptops poor performance but even on my desktop there is a common 1 sec delay between a monster getting killed and their death animation. Its the little stuff like that brought this game down from OMG D2 SPIRITUAL SEQUEL LIEK BEST GAME EVAR!! to just another time killer. I haven't logged on in a good month or so.

Fifa, you referring to HGL or AoC?
