If you have the bank to purchase an alienware with those specs, I would recommend buying a newer dell vostro or inspiron with specs that will far surpass that (8600gt, 2gb ram, etc.) for less money. The specs you have there will certainly play those games, but not on high. Make sure you have vista as well, because halo 2 will not run on xp

make sure u have atleast the 2 ghz processor and 2gb of ram, everthing will run more smoothly, and you should be able to play both of those games at mediumish settings with no problem(with the 2ghz processor and 2gb of ram ofcourse)

also if you have time to wait you should, alienware will redesign that model with more up to date specs, and if at all possible avoid alienware, HUGE rip off, they over charge for everything possible, you could pay 75% of that price for something else close to the same or even better

I agree with mtnboydl. If you have the kind of money an Alienware requires, you can get far more advanced laptops for less.

Trust me, don't get it. Of course, I would love to get an Alienware, too, but only one of the best machines they have.

The GeForce 7600 is not a very bad card. While not a bad one, either, will be outperformed by the 8600M GT in a Dell Inspiron/Vostro.

The processor also MUST be at least 1.8 ghz.

If it's Vista, you need 2GB ram.

why must the processor be 1.8ghz?

any core 2 duo should be fine for gaming.

    dell vosto.

with the price range of 1500, no reason to step all the way up to the G1. the only true difference will be the gpu being ddr3. You can upconfigure the dell pretty well in that price range

Yeah, they can in some cases. But you're getting a better deal than what you got with the Alienware, by far. You still have other options though besides Dell.

The G1S might be a bit too expensive...the Sager NP2090 is probably in your price range, and can be configured almost the same as the 1520.

hmm... I find it hard to let that statement go by unchecked.
I really don't think the Inspiron and Vostro series can be labeled as overpriced. You get a lot of over-powered parts on a VERY tight budget.

The only thing which DELL is really notorious for overcharging on is RAM, so just buy that yourself, and install it later.

fair enough, last time i did look though hard drives and ram are over charged by alot, but as said you could easily buy those your self and replace them

ok i think i am going to go with the vostro, core 2 duo @ 2ghz, 2gb ram and 8600m gt... that should be able to rip through most games right? also is it worth getting any more ram or the 2.2ghz cpu for the price?

Isn't a patch that will allow Halo 2 to be played on XP coming out soon?

no need to step up to the 2.2...the one you have is plenty
