I had someone call me with a issue I can't help with. He has an alienware m11x Core i5 with optimus and he disabled his Intel HD graphics in the device manager. Now nothing shows up on the screen, it stays black even when rebooting so he can't get in to the bios. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cold boot the system to reset the PCI configuration then bootup in Normal, or if necessar Safe Mode, then enable Intel HD. Disabling Intel HD in Device Manager will not cause the bios to give you a black screen.. there's something else at play if that is the case.

Why wouldn't it? Disabling Intel HD means that there's no GPU connected to the screen, since with Optimus the graphics card connects to the monitor through the IGP. With the IGP disabled, the only way to use the graphics card is with an external monitor.

EDIT: Oh, wait, BIOS. Yeah, I found that odd too...
