I was checking online how to transfer the character/profile I have built up in multiplayer and would hate to lose it when I get my new notebook.

Most ppl write that there is a "Player" folder somewhere in COD4, all I get when I go Activision>>Call of Duty 4>> is:

    Documentation
    - Readme
    - Customer Support
    - Technical Help
    CoD4 Multiplayer
    CoD4 Singleplayer
    Uninstall

Any clue why I cant see where my character is stored? :S

    Thanks in advance!

Are you on vista? There's an option at the top of the window that says XP compatible or something like that. Click that and it will show up.

Ah I see, where exactly is that? Is it in Folder Options or somewhere in the actual window where I see the folders?

    Thanks again

Um... not in Windows right now, but if I remember correctly there is like... a blue bar, I think, right above the space where it shows you the files and such. In there there is a bunch of buttons you can click, and it's one of them. I don't know why Vista hides files from us :/

just took this pic off google.
[IMG] should be in that blue bar where it says Organize, Views, New Folder, etc.

Hi, you can use this program to simplify all the process: http://planetcallofduty.gamespy.com/fullstory.php?id=145669

Basically, it allows you to copy your profile to another folder for backup. Under Vista, the path is C:\Program Files\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players\profiles\[profile name]

Change [profile name] for the name of your profile: eg: C:\Program Files\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players\profiles\Livesoft

Your multiplayer profile is stored in the "mpdata" file. The config.cfg and config_mp.cfg are the settings for single player and multiplayer (graphics, texture, controls, etc.)

The active.txt specifies the active profiles that COD4 will show so all the folder under players.

If there is no players folder, this maybe means that you didn't create any profiles yet. If you already have one, I recommand you try searching on all the hard drives for a file called: "mpdata" with no extension. Don't forget to make a complete search: Type mpdata in the search box, Search Tools > Search Pane > Advanced Search and check the box for "Include non-indexed, hidden and system files"
