Greetings, i have just got my brand new MSI GX700 extreme edition notebook and i am curious why i cant get a higher fps in wow.
Also the laptop is oc ed:
3dmark05: 6800 ( it was 5700 with stock clocks)
I have core 2 duo t7500
8600m GT
2gb ram
I have 32 bit vista home premium and the video card drivers are: 7.15.11.119
I have got around 20-30 fps in the game and i often go under 18..
My desktop runs wow with 75 fps all the time.
Maybe only one processor core is working with WOW?
If so how can i set the both cores to work ?
****ing lazy cores...
Thanks in advance

make sure that if you are running on mains power not battery, and check to see that your power settings is set to high performance

the processor issue is ur imagination. intel core architecture is such that always the processors share the task at hand and work together........ i think this is an effect with vista.......(do u use vista in desktop also)......also make sure that Vsync is turned off in the game menu ....... this will limit frame rate to max of screen refresh rate which is quite low for LCD screens...........cheers..........lemme know if u solved it
-
Oh sorry forgot to mention that my vsync is turned off, also my desktop pc is using core 2 duo processor with windows xp and everything is fine there..
But this vista ... -
i am not a gamer.........so i think by WOW u mean world of warcraft (correct me if i am wrong ).....i think this is a pretty old game......such games were designed to run on directX8.x & directX 9.x which had a very similar architecture. but vista employs directX 10 which has a dramatically different API. (u must have read abt it..had some links forgot them). so i think this is normal that the perfomance of ur game is diminished in vista system as the game was not designed to run on it ..... this may be mainly due to ur game running in a software emulated mode than direct3D.......not any hardware problem or that sort...........so relax and use ur lap to play any newly released game and try the benchmarking......also use 3dmark to benchmark if u r in serious doubt..........also try compatibility mode for WOW..........lemme know of the developments

Yeah i know mate 3dmark
My desktop has 13,000 points in 3dmark05 but the laptop has 6800
8800 gts stock clocks vs an overclocked 8600m gt -
Given the amount of oomph you are throwing at it you must be throttled back... probably due to power-saving "features".
Make sure the laptop is plugged in and that windows confirms that it is plugged in.
Many laptops downclock their GPU even in performance mode via hardware when running on battery regardless of which power saver mode you put the software in.
Change Vista to "performance mode".
not "balanced" and not "power saver". These modes intentionally downclock your GPU as well.
You can also try updating your drivers.
Go to your manufacturer and see if they have anything newer than 1/1/2008.
Go to laptopvideo2go.com and grab the latest WHQL if they don't.
Follow the instructions as those drivers are for nvidia cards, but not your specific manufacturer. If this step fails, go back to your original drivers.
make sure to have your original drivers ready in case you have trouble getting the new ones to work. -
Oh sorry forgot to mention that the laptop is plugged in, and about the drivers, i wanted to upgrade it but it said that i am not running 32 bit vista... but it is a 32 bit vista lol...
Tryed with the 64 bit also but nothing...
Tryed to install some 171.xxx drivers -

I have an X1650XT in my desktop which benches pretty similar to a GDDR2 8600M GT. I get 60fps most of thetime with v-sync on. Lowest 30, average 40+ with max settings at 1440*900.
It shouldn't be a power issue. Your T7500 is more powerful than my Athlon X2... all I can think of is maybe drivers? Nvidia's mobile drivers can be very temperamental. -
WoW ran fine on my geforce go 7200 (32mb dedicated) vista32, quite suprised actually. Max of 60, Average FPS of 40, dips down to 25fps in crowded towns.
I ran it on the standard settings, i never changed a setting cause i was very happy with the quality and performance. V-sync was probably off
Check if you have any bloatware running or how much load the CPU is on. Also check the Nvidia Control Panel settings for games
Its unlikely to be your processor so all points to GPU drivers. Try updating and Toggle around with the WoW settings.
Personally, id do a clean install and start fresh if its not too much trouble.
Help! wow performance issue
