Its Between HP and Dell, while Dell has the setup i want but for $100 cheaper than HP but I saw the HP in person and it looks so cool, all the features on it (I think) kill dell but not sure weither the x1400 is better than the 7400 HP offers.

My main games are CS:S and BF2 (which are my biggest concern) and need to know how well these cards play them and which one is best for them, this post will decide which Notebook i'm buying

    Thanks!!!

the x1400 is slightly faster then the 7400 in benchmarks

both cards perform similarily well in real life games

i don't know what 7400 HP uses but there are versions of 7400 that only has 64mb of dedicated vram. make sure you have the 128mb of dedicated vram though both performs similarily, more dedicated ram is still better

CS:S will run just fine on both with no lag

BF2 will also run at med setting though BF2 and 2142 are memory hogs so it would be better if you had 2 gb ram. i play 2142 and maintain 40ish fps on med settings (i have OCed 1400)

the x1400 is alittle faster becuase of its wider memory bus (although the 7400 is clocked higher, so the differnce is not huge) but all in all the x1400 is better. Because of the bigger memory bus, AF and higher res might be possible sometimes (but again, the difference is slight)

You won't notice much of a difference, if at all. They're both good mainstream cards.

if its the m1210 your thinking about, wich I'm sure it is as its the only dell laptop with a 7400 that I know of, get it, it rules hardcore, by far the best laptop I've had in terms of price, power, and sheer portability

This is how I run BF2 on my 7400, at about 35-60 frames a second depending on whats going on.

Dynamic lights, shadows and AA can be switched onto low with acceptable results but I prefer having that extra few FPS for the large scale battles....so I leave them off. Even at these settings, it still looks fine and plays well.

The X1400 and the Go 7400 are similar in performance, so that's not a reason for choosing one notebook rather than another.

If you're between the E1505 and the dv6000t I would say just get the HP because it's better in terms of quality and design in my opinion.

Thanks for the info, if the difference is only like %5 then i'll just go with the hp because of all the features but just didn't know how much the 7400 can take, but it looks like it can do what i want!

One more question, is Core 2 Duo 1.66ghz good for these games or am i making the right choice with sticking with the 2.ghz T7200?

Another Note: i was hoping HP would be the one to go for because my experience with Dell Desktops is not too well :(

Both processors will probably perform quite close to each other, as the processor doesn't really govern FPS all that much. If you are using some more processor intensive applications, then try and get the T7200. It will perform better than the T5500.

The video card is going to be your performance bottleneck, so as long as you have a modern dual-core CPU such as the Core 2 Duo then I would not worry about the clockspeed. It is the processor itself that matters. Getting one CPU over another is not going to determine whether the game is playable or not.
Just make sure you have 1GB+ of RAM.
