Hi everyone , im new at this site so forgive me if i posted this thread on the wrong section.

OnT now , Well i have decided that i want to buy a dell studio 15. Which im gonna use for occasional gaming(CS:S, L4d, CoD4, UT3)Music, and basic surfing . I wonder which processor should i get ? The T6400(standard) or The P8600(130$extra)

    other specs
graphic card:512 MB ATI Mobility RADEON HD 4570
    RAM:4096 MB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

is this laptop suitable for my needs ? which settings will i be able to run the games on ?

You could live with the T6400 easily with those games. As for the 4570, it's a new generation of low end dedicated but it's quite the performer for a "low end" part. CS:S should max out and you should be able to pull off 2x AA without a problem. L4D should run well in medium specs. CoD4, medium specs again, and UT3 medium specs as well. I estimate those settings as if you were to play at 1280 x 800 resolution and expect no dips below 30 FPS.

All I have to say here is more money spent now is less money spent later. You might want to look at an asus laptop as they have the best bang/quality for the buck and they come with a free 2 year warranty which is huge. I did a month or so of research before I bought my laptop and in every case Asus came out on top for price to parts, price to build quality and price to overall.

Really if you think about it the 300 bucks you are going to throw down on a 2 year warranty alone can get you a better proc or or something. I looked at dell and to make a computer that was like this Asus that I bought was going to cost me at least 800 more dollars and Asus builds a better laptop than Dell does when it comes to gaming.

    Thats my 7.5 cents

I agree with Exostenza. Also, I wouldn't waste my time buying a dell studio 15 for occasional gaming. Even if I only play games occasionally, it doesn't mean that I want to have to lower all of the settings and put up with sub par performance.

I'd favor the ASUS, if we are talking about the Asus G50Vt-X1, since you can find it under $900 right now.

As you can see by my sig., I'm somewhat partial to the Gateway FX P-7805u, ($1149) especially if you can snag one with the 1920 x 1200 screens.

It is a 17" DTR, though, and if you prefer the 15", the G50 is certainly worth a look.

According to benchmarks (I don't remember the exact scores, sorry), the 4330 ranks just below the 3450, which was present in the previous generation Studio 15 notebooks. Which is to say, crap.

The 3450 could not run Call of Duty 4 at all on anything higher than 800x600, and all settings had to be at minimum or off. At 640x480, some things (shadows, texture detail, decals) could be set to medium.
