oh btw did I mention that wow and guild wars are two main competitors. both of which have a lot of brand loyalty :D

in the end just play the demo or pick up the games and try it out for a month... that is really the only way you will decided. I personally think both games are fun so a lot just depends on your monetary and time constraints.

The above really took me by surprise. I've seen both side-by-side, and the graphics aren't even close. WoW characters are very cartoony and stylized... this is the consequence of running a dated and low-hardware-requirements graphics engine. On the other hand, GW really takes advantage of newer video hardware and pushes DX9 to its limits. GW characters are very realistic, while WoW reminds me more of "Who Framed Roger Rabbit."

I'm pretty sure that the bulk of players who have played both GW and WoW will agree with the above. Blizzard's graphics engine went for minimimal specs to maximize machines that could run it, while GW took advantage of newer hardware to get the best image quality possible. The results speak for themselves.

I do agree that GW looks 2D if runned on antiquated PC hardware specs. However, it looks much better than WoW when given modern hardware like the laptops in my sig.

Is War Hammer free-play or subscription? How stable is the game?

I actually have both, and personally I like GW more.

Of course, this is all personal taste. If you like PvE, and really like leveling up and that stuff, then I'm sure you would enjoy WoW more than GW. In GW you level to 20 really really quickly, probably before half the game is done. Then after that, you just get more skills, and have to practice your teamwork and improve your skills. Of course, I'm going to say that the PvE for GW is somewhat lacking because there are too many expansions, and so it will be hard to find other people to party with during much of the game, and in the end you might be forced to use the henchman, which really takes the fun out of it.

WoW PvE is much better if you really enjoy leveling up, because there's so many dungeons to complete, so many people you can play with, so many random things to get like mounts, epics, etc.. If that's what you like, then I would say WoW is perfect for you. However, as much as I like leveling up and stuff, the real fun for me is PvP, and that's the thing I don't like about WoW.

Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike PvE at all, but after playing WoW, I felt like I spent so much time, and barely got anything at all since it takes so long to level and the such. Now, WoW PvP is definitely not bad, heck it may as well be as good as GW PvP. Well, world PvP may get annoying at times since I would get killed by random high level rogues on my like level 40, and they would camp my body sooo I mean that's just how it is. And then if you want to be a nice guy and just not attack then I don't see the point in playing on a PvP server anyway, not that you have to of course, but that's what I did.

Personally I prefer the PvP in GW slightly over that of WoW because in WoW you're restricted to 2v2, 3v3, 5v5, and bg. In GW, you can do Random Arenas which is more or less just a way to learn how to play, then you move on to TA, which is 4v4, and then there's the Guild Wars which is definitely the best part of the game. The fact that there are more classes in GW also makes the PvP more versatile, and I found that WoW PvP was somewhat imbalanced, and you can see that definitely on the boards. WoW PvP is definitely fun too, so it's really up to you. The thing which made me completely hate WoW, though, is the fact that you don't really get to PvP until level 70. Of course there are lower level PvP things to do, but I don't like playing those because as far as I know, the developers try to balance it at 70, and so the game won't really be balanced at the lower levels. And, seriously, getting to 70 takes a REALLY **** long time.. Where as in GW, you can just make a PvP character which is level 20, and you'll just need to PvP to gain more faction points which you can use to buy new skills and weapon mods.

personally i would go for Guild Wars, thats ebcuase you wont have to pay each month too play it which means youwont feel you need to play as much of it too get your money's worth of it, which i think thats what some people do, which in turn leads to becoming addicted to it.

So says the person who payed and played for four years.
Altough Blizzard did fail at the Blizzcon ticket sales, they are actually very useful. For the Lag, that is from the recent patch (i believe) which offered a ton of extras to the game.
    My opinion:
    content: Wow > GW
    Gameplay: WoW = GW
    Challenge: WoW >> GW
    Graphics: WoW < GW
    Worth buying: WoW > GW

The only thing i wish to explain is the Challenge. The reason why WoW is a LOT more challenging is that there is more to the game than GW.
Level 70 (soon 80), 61 talent (skill) points that you can use, a lot of gear, a ton of instances and raids you can do, battlegrounds that unlock new gear for your character, an outrageously large amount of quests, and a nice community (at least on Dethecus)

so i recommend WoW highly over GW

GW was boring after a month

WoW has kept me going for a lot longer.

    Marijuana isn't addicting :p

    Neither is Guild Wars...

    World of Warcraft is though.

I know this, I've "played" them all.

tbh i would say guild wars is a bit of a waste of time now, ive played it for a long long time now and the current state of game is nothing like what it use to be. most of the missions will be empty and you will struggle to find partys. Nowerdays its just speed clears and people wanting to get the achivements for guild wars 2.

i've played guild wars for over 3 years and i agree, the state of the game has drastically declined and most well known players barely get on any more since GW2 will make GW1 obsolete. I play WoW also and i can honestly say i had much more fun in GW about a year ago, but WoW has taken the throne now.
