Well I built a new desktop which was long over due.
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 Wolfdale 3.16GHz
ASUS P5QL PRO
OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066
OCZ GameXStream OCZ600GXSSLI 600W PSU
Now I had and still do (its in a box waiting to go back to newegg) a 9800GTX+. I RMAed this card with them becuase of the dreaded "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding". This error would result in a crash of my sytem. I tried troubleshooting it and even reinstalled Vista a bunch of times so I would have "clean" driver installs. So I eventually got fed up and got a ATI 4850. I have not once had a crash BUT I feel these is something wrong now with ATI drivers. See I only play WoW and UT3. I dont benchmark UT3 or use 3dmark so how I would judge the performace was through WoW since it has a FPS counter. On the 9800GTX+ I was pushing 175FPS with everything one which was AMAZING. Now with my ATI 4850 I only get around 60-70 and it even dips to the 40s in some areas. So now I have a card that doesnt crash but has crappy performance. I feel that UT is around the same but I cant tell cuase I never benched it with the 9800GTX+ in my machine. So here is my Dilemma. Do I stick with the Nvidia Card and deal with the crashes and hope they come out with a fix? Do I Stick with the ATI card and see if they come out with a fix? (I see that many had low FPS issues with the 48xx series.) I have to send one of these cards back to Newegg so please anyone help me out!? Thanks so much
