First of all I know that I want a memory card with GDDR3 memory.
However when checking out laptops, I'm having difficulty finding out whether they have GDDR3 or GDDR2 memory.
Right now I"m looking at the Dell XPS M1530 Series and the Asus M50 Series
The Asus has a 9500M GS 512MB and the Dell has a 8600M GT 256 MB
Neither says GDDR3 or GDDR2.
Some insight or even suggestions for other laptops would be appreciated.
Also, on a non-related note, is the Intel turbo memory something I should get?
Edit: I read that 256MB is all the memory that is needed, even for high end games like Crysis. Is this to say that having 512MB over 256MB of memory offers no increase in performance?
Thanks

- HP 8510 p/w
- Lenovo TP
- AW m15x
17 inchers
- Precision 6300
- HP 8710 p/w
- AW m9750
- Clevo d901c
- Clevo m57ru
- Gateway FX
- XPS 1710
- XPS 1730 -
Yes, performance wise the diff bw 256 and 512 is zero. Its the actaul card that really matters

Performance wise 256 and 512 won’t make any difference… what counts is the speed… however, if you can go for a 512 GDDR3 that’s more future proof that 256 GDDR3 given you will be playing lots of high texture games later.

LG P-300 13,1" is a ddr3 too if im not mistaken.

Do you mean to say if the GPU is DDR3? my laptop (Sony Vaio VGN-FZ290) has a 8400M GT DDR3 ...
-
Also the A7K series from asus has a gddr3 card. They can be found on newegg.com for under 1,000.. its a raedon hd 2600 256mb gddr3 gpu

What is a 'lab'top?
-
note, if the speed bus is 128, then anythings above 256mb is unusable, so 512mb is pointless unless you have a 256 speed bus

DELL XPS 256mb is GDDR3 and HP DV2700 are all GDDR3 it is written clearly in their sites and ASUS M51 512 mb is GDDR2. -
and all benchmark show you the ASUS is good but the Dell is better in 3dmark06.

I notice the G1S isnt on there which ive gotten 4.3k with, not to mention how much more i could get with proper cooling and a nice OC.

And all Sony's are GDDR3 but their choice of cards are not as good as these HP or Dell. -
What exactly do you need the laptop for? Or just looking for info ?
