iam sorry to burst your bubble but you cant upgrade your GPU .
so need to look any further -
i thought u CAN upgrade the 9400's GPU, i think u need to contact dell and arrange for an upgrade, u then need to send ur laptop to them. i think the max GPU for 9400 is the 7900gs

I think that you should check the manufacturers website. If the CLEARLY SAY that the GPU is upgradeable, then you're in luck. If not, then...

The Dell E1705 is an exception - I believe you can find Go7900GS part you need in Dell Spare Parts on their website. It will only work with the E1705/i9400/XPS M1710.

Yeah, you can upgrade the GPU in the i9400/E1705, and in fact, in most Dells, but only to a GPU they offer for that computer. Like Chaz said, you could probably find a 7900GS in the spare parts from Dell, but it may void your warranty if you replace it. I'm not sure about that. There's a thread over in the Dell forum about upgrading GPUs in Dell notebooks, so I would search for that. It probably has a lot of useful information.

The E1505 and the E1705 are both laptops that you can upgrade the GPU for.

Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
rule of thumb for dells, if you have dedicated graphics, you can use any card available for that model, if you start with onboard graphics, you cant upgrade
