Deciding on a new laptop but I can't decide which graphics card is better overall:

GeForce 320M GT or GeForce 9600M GT

I know that 320M is more recent, but is it better than the 9600M in terms of performance?

    Thanks!

Only, if the 9600m is DDR3 should you consider it......

How much worse is the 320M then? Would I be downgrading if I chose the 320M?

Probably about the same, if they have the same memory type. But since the 320M is more advanced in terms of technology, it will use less power, saving you more battery life, and it should put out less heat as well, due to a smaller fabrication process.

I wouldn't go for either personally but it all depends on budget and what sort of games you want to play. You should fill out a what notebook faq. An investment like this demands more detail and careful deliberation.
