    My setup is a :
    Dell E1705
Intel Core 2 Duo 1.73 Ghz
    1 GB RAM
    100GB HD @ 5400 rpm
    ATI Radeon x1400
    Windows Vista 32bit

How can I (if I even can) overclock my video card or make it faster? I dont play that much graphic games but I rather have a non-laggy game than a shiny game. (CS:S, SWAT, The Movies, Command and Conquer Generals....other stuff like those)

download powerstrip and use the core/memory frequency bars to adjust clock speed.

you should be able to get to 550core and 435 memory stable.

vertical sync enables triple buffering which increases the frame of games , if the frame rate is less than the refresh rate. so it might give u a few more fps :)

is there stuff like enable geometry instancing - as well increases frame rate
disabling 32bit z buffer which i think latest games use (dont quote me on it)
so this option would force the z buffer to 24 bits, dunno what it would do.

Also i wouldnt use any AA or AF becauese anti aliasing for me really reduces frame rate :)

if all else fails run it in 16bit or 18 bit colour :)

    hope it helped :)

    Try doing the undervolting trick...

Here is what I am running:

    Dell E1505

    X1400
500 core / 500 memory with no artifacting

    Undervolted Processor to 1 volt

Downloaded fan utility and set the fan to High:

At idle, my CPU temp is 31 degrees C.

    I get 4500 3dMarks from 3600 on 3Dmark 03

I think the key is being able to control my fan. Big deal there. :)
Search for E1505 fan utility and find one of the links.

Pretty good for a first time laptop overclocker :)

sounds good but is it safe? i use my 17'' basically as a desktop replacment, dont really travel much with it but will this be a potential threat to the system?
