Already redeemed my two games, Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Sleeping Dogs. Thanks everyone who replied for your help.

    Original post:

OK, so I've got a Radeon Silver Award, which lets me pick two games from the Silver tier of AMD's Never Settle Forever Program here: NEVER SETTLE FOREVER

I've already got Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon and Hitman: Absolution, so that whittles the list down to five. Judging by Metacritic scores, Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Sleeping Dogs look like the clear winners. The new Thief game looks interesting, but release date is February 2014. I have to redeem this offer by the end of the year, so if Thief turns out to be crap it'll be a waste.

I could also wait for more games to be added to NSF between now and the end of the year. But I kinda just want to get my games now because it doesn't seem like there is anything good on the horizon. BF4 will not be a part of NSF so that possibility is ruled out.

Sorry for the rambling, just want to get some input on this.

just bought sleeping dogs during steam's halloween sale and i'm currently hooked ten hours in. definitely lives up to last year's hype. solid GTA-style open world (albeit slightly more arcade-ish) with a combat system similar to the arkham series. i gave up on deus ex: HR after getting stuck three hours in, but i'll definitely finish it eventually. both games have unique enough adventure themes. i find the dirt series to be really fun for what it is: super arcade "rally" racing, but with much more emphasis on drifting/gymkhana. dirt 3 also happens to be the best title from the series in my opinion.

Thanks for the info. I don't want a racing game and Deus Ex is, well, frickin' Deus Ex. As long as it's even close in quality to the first one (not Invisible War) it'll be a must-have for me.

Cult classic doesn't even begin to describe Deus Ex. It's arguably the greatest PC of all time, at the very least it belongs in the GOAT conversation.

_________ looks like it will most likely be Sleeping Dogs based on your recommendation. There's really nothing else in Silver that I'm interested in. That sniper game? Heck no.

Both are great games, and would also recommend them both. Although I quite enjoyed Invisible War I don't know why it got bashed so hard. I had a great time with it.

Do the dlc after you beat it, if you pick it up, you get outfits that take a lot of the challenge out of fighting, since the first of the game is really dumbed down to help to get the hang of things.

I'd go Deus Ex and Thief. Eidos isn't going to butcher Thief, which has just as devoted a following as Deus Ex (albeit smaller). At worst, it's a 70/100 game, probably more likely that it's 85/100.

Look at it this way: by the end of the month, Deus Ex and Sleeping Dogs will go on sale for $10 or less each, again. Thief, on the other hand, probably won't drop below $30 until the Steam Summer Sale.

Okay, it's a money-based argument when you should arguably be more focused on the product than the price in this case, but if you're going to want to play Thief anytime before 2015, choosing Thief along with either Deus Ex or Sleeping Dogs is probably your best option.

You make a compelling argument, but like you said, quality not price is my only criteria. If Thief turns out to be awesome, then great, I have no problem paying full price for it after release. It's just that it's an unknown quantity at this point besides predictions and speculation. With Sleeping Dogs and Deus Ex, quality is assured, so that's the safest option. Picking Thief is like pre-ordering without the ability to cancel, and I've vowed to never pre-order games again.

True, but it's really only a $5-10 gamble since that's the likely cost to buy either DX:HR (Director's Cut, no less, as opposed to the base game AMD seems to be offering) or Sleeping Dogs once the Thanksgiving/Fall sale hits Steam.

yeah go for sleeping dogs!!!!fantastic game...get the version 2.1 with all dlc included..i have that version with 30dlc and wheels of fury and year of snake add ons...very addicting game!trust me...i had also the older version..1.3..in that version the draw distance was awful for me during day light!but in 2.1 its much better...and if you experience slowdowns just put aa on high instead ultra and ambient occlusion on normal vsyn off...i got avarage about 43fps and minimum 26-27fps with i7 760m(overclocked)...if you like just cause 2 you will like these..its a mix of just cause gta and assassins creed :)

I would look at the price to buy them when they go on sale. Not much sense getting a five dollar game for free, if that is the case. As for thief, big games have been botched before, look at BF4. If you loved the first one, then go for it, otherwise you might go with something proven.

Too late now. Already got Sleeping Dogs and Deus Ex: Human Revolution. They're not $5 games as of right now (who knows what they'll be during the Steam sale) but like I said, money is no object for me. I just want the games to be good. I'm getting this stuff for free so I can't complain. Thief is still a couple months off and unproven, plus it would be my first time delving into the franchise so I don't know how I'll take to this type of game.

I would go with Sleeping Dogs and Thief.

Deux Ex has been redone for PC and re-released with the Director's Cut. I'd get that on sale. I doubt the Deux Ex that silver tier is offering is the Director's Cut.

Plain Deus Ex. The upgrade to Director's Cut is $10 on Steam. I'll get it when it's $2.50 during the Steam Holiday Sale.

I've always been a shooters guy. Played too many FPS games to count, but if it's from the last 15-20 years and it was good/popular then chances are I've played it. I also like open-world action RPG's and action-adventure games and FPSes with RPG elements. That's pretty much it. My video game tastes are really not eclectic. Oh yeah and I forgot to mention: PC only. I haven't owned a console since PlayStation 1.

    How you liking sleeping dogs?

The graphics are obv way better on PC, I felt the game played better with a controller on console though. It may be just me as I just got my gt70 and hhaven't played pc games since full throttle from Lucas arts.
