I am looking at two PC's please help me pick one.

    1-HP dv9500t

    Core 2 Duo (2.0GHz)
    2GB Ram
    256MB nVidia 8600M GS
    80GB HDD
    17" LCD

    2-Sager NP2090

    Core 2 Duo (2.0GHz.)
    2GB Ram
    512MB nVidia 8600 GT
    80GB HDD
    15" LCD
    _-_-_-_-_-_
I have heard that i will not see any difference in the 256 and the 512 8600, is this true? Also, ive heard that an 8600 isn't that good if put into a 17" Laptop, is that true? Also on the Sager site they announce that the 8600 is a PCI-Express. On the HP website it doesnt say anything about PCI-Expess, so is it not? Ive heard that all 8600's are PCI-E, but would nt Hp want to announce that?? Thanks for everyones help in advance! :) :)

Get the sager, better in every aspect.
    1. yes, but one is GT and another is GS
    2. No, but the GS is worse than GT so thats why.
    3. I doubt it.

GT>GS for the OP, this is a point in which you've experienced so much angst and repeatedly spammed the board over. As for 17" notebooks the 8600GT is not the best graphic card option, Toshiba Satellite X205 and the new Dell XPS have more powerful options. Every mobile 8 series for laptops uses the PCI-E interface so manufacturers don't bother announcing the fact.

8700M GT is the best 8 series card for 17"> notebook. I will personally prefer Sager and yes you will not see any obvious performance gaps between a 256 and 512 card since both memory interface are only 128-bit.

About 8600 isn't that good in a 17" notebook, i don't think so but i am not sure, i suggest you wait for few more people to post and perhaps they could help you out.

17" models can currently hold 8700GT and 7950GTX(Not DX10 card but more powerful in certain performance aspects than the 8700GT, read the forum's topmost sticky). One of the news items recently announced a 17" model with dual-SLI linked 7950GTX which is far and away the best non-DX10 graphics option for 17" models.

There is a major difference between the 8600M-GT and the 8600M-GS, remember that. Also, no, HP won't put in any other graphics card for you, no matter what. Have you posted a What Notebook Should I Buy FAQ? If so, could you post a link to it here please? If not, please post one.
