    Hey guys,

So for years I have considered myself a pretty hard-core gamer, especially when I was a bit younger.

I was into MMO's and spending 5+ hours a day grinding etc. in EVE-Online, and LOTRO. I played Half Life's, and CS, and DOD and Starcraft and Sins of Solar Empire for hours too.

However, now as I'm getting older I find I have less and less time to play games like that and frankly, less and less desire too. I have in the past week cancelled my EVE-Online accounts, and about 6 months ago canceled my LOTRO account, and last night I got home sat at my computer and said... I don't want to play anything I have.

I still play L4D occasionally, and DOD and Starcraft, but I have seriously played them to death and have sort of lost interest.

So my question is, for my new "play style" what sort of games are good and what games do you recommend. Figure 1-2 hours max of gameplay, I wan't good fun. Something I can hop on for short periods and enjoy and just as easily quit after 20 minutes.

I like RTS, shooters really anything, also the cheaper the better and ideally it would be on STEAM. I figure Bf1943 will be perfect when it comes out but thats a few months away so I want something to hold me over. (However don't say Bf1942.) Also a game that is quasi relaxing could be nice too... not something I'll get pissed over.

I am not a fan of games like Oblivion if that helps.

demigod is what i play when i only have about a half hour or so. its pretty fun but i can never get in a multiplayer game, its still fun on single player though. i would get some sort of single player game and just slowly play through the campaign if i were you though.

GTA IV is good for short playtimes... You won't get pissed over it. Actually, you'll find funny situations very often...

I think it is a very funny game

What did you do with your stuff/isk? Is it too late to give it all to me?

I'm a bit of an older gamer as well. Lately for 'casual' gameplay I fire up Sims 3 and Spore. I find them both quite entertaining really. And oddly enough they both have an element of violence you can focus on if the urge arises. :)

Try Fallout 3, its a First Person RPG. You can save the game at anytime, So it would be perfect for you.

Ahh ok. I only read up to the bold, well in that case he should give Call of Duty 4 a try since you can't go wrong with that game.

Battlefield Heroes. Can play for ten minutes and leave. No problems there. It's free too!

Also try Command & Conquer Generals + Zero Hour. You can set up quick games, or long ones. There's not as much of an online community, but single player is fun too.

Prototype is also great fun for short stints. Crazy action, but fun.

I'm truly, truly sorry to hear that. But am glad you will still keep the Eve option open. I think EVE Online is a great game. If you do perhaps change your mind (about the stuff/isk) let me know. My corp is on their third war dec in four weeks and we can use some new gear. :)

Another thought for 'pick-up-and-play' game is Empire Total War. Bugs are being resolved, looks great, and the ship battles are a lot of fun.

Prototype is great for short bursts of play assuming that you don't become addicted to it like some have. I also play GTA IV just going around tossing grenades out of moving cars or just having gun fights with the police, great fun along with car chases.

Saints Row 2 is also great fun if it runs well enough on your system.

I also recommend Mass Effect, one of the best RPGs I've played and I looooooove me my RPGs :)

Will also recommend Battlefield Heroes! Very fun and can drop it anytime and pick it back up like nothing was missed :)

Also Mass Effect is a very short RPG, looking at about 25-30 hours completed full content.

Haha it's actually L4D2. I'm sure masterchef is being sarcastic given all the negativity about L4D2.

what about Gears of War? Or perhaps for some fps fun why not Team Fortress 2? they have a lot of stuff now and it's always quite fun though not necessarily time consuming. Maybe also something like Company of Heroes for rts?
