I was quite happy with my old video card in my dell laptop. I have read many reviews and posts however that rank the 6150 very low. Would I still be able to play the games that I did on the 9600 on the 6150? Would it be better or worse? Thanks everyone!

What are the complete specifications of both of your systems and which games are you talking about?

The Radeon 9600 should be a good bit more powerful than the GeForce 6150.

Yes it may be older, but it still a bit more powerful than the 6150.

Go6150 is terrible, your Radeon 9600 is much faster

Im thinking the X4500 could give it a run for its money. but yes its still a capable card, least in the very low end.

why don't you get a modern gpu? the price difference is basically 0.

try an 8400m gs or higher if you want to game at all.

I remember the 9600 of PC can play DOOM III at medium - high setting while the 6150 can only play DOOM III at lowest setting to get the equal framerates with 9600. May be the 9600 version of laptop's only slightly slower but still much better than 6150.

WRONG. The ATi 3200 IGP is as powerful as a x1600/7600, and a x1600/7600>x700/6600>9600/5600. The ATi 3200 IGP would blow a 9600 away with ease.

To the OP, if your looking for an IGP with some power and still decent battery life look into the 3200.

WRONG. The hd3200 scores around 1500, the x1600/7600 scores in the 2k range

lol o no! 500 points more!!!!

thats close enough for me, the fact the an IGP can get that close is great. that will equate to about 5FPS in real world situations.

but my 2600XT is untouched by any igp :D I dont like IGP's but after reading and doing some resarch i would say the 3200 is a good IGP but dont expect to play a gpu demanding game. i would think. Igp's are not gamer card's

First off narsnail's post speaks the truth. But still my x1600 scored in the 3k-3.4k area in 3dmark05 which is pretty much the same as the 3200. Now 3dmark06 the ati3200 sees 1500-1700 sometimes more and sometimes less depending on setup. Ill tell you that even 1k 3dmark points wont make even a slight difference in most cases. Case and point my 8600mGT sees a 1k increase in 3dmark06 with an OC yet FPS and game play do not change. So remember synthetic benchmarks dont mean anything other then for epeen/pride. Real world experience and having owned both an x1600 platform and a 3200 Ill tell you there is ZERO difference.

100% agree IGPs are not gamer cards, as well as your 2600XT will do ALOT better then any IGP out there. But then again its totally different then that of a ATI 9600.
