    Hi Guys,

I read so many reviews about the boxing match between msi gt72 and asus g751. I am going to buy any of these two beast but after giving so much thought not able to decide which one to buy.

    MSI GT72 Dominator Pro-445
    ------------------------------------------------------
    Intel Core i7-4980HQ (2.8GHz, 6MB Cache)
    32GB DDR3L 1600 MHz
    1TB 7200RPM Hard Drive, 512GB M.2 Solid-State Drive
17.3-inch Full HD IPS Anti-glare Screen; NVIDIA Geforce GTX980M with 8GB GDDR5 VRAM
    BD Burner; Windows 8.1

    ASUS G751 JY-DH72X
    --------------------------------------------------
Intel Core i7-4860HQ 2.4GHz (Turbo up to 3.6GHz)
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M 4GB
    32 GB DDR3
    1 TB 7200 rpm Hard Drive, 512 GB Solid-State Drive (PCIEG2)
17.3-inch Full HD IPS screen, Windows 8.1, Blu-ray Writer

Plese help me to finalize. I could spend around $3000 but need the best performance in all aspects ( Gaming Performance/ Display/Design/ Sound/HDD file transfer speed/Processor speed/ Temp..Cooling). If anyone already bought between any of these two, please let me know about its review.

    Appreciated your help in advance.

The MSI's CPU and GPU are better. The IPS screen I cannot comment on. MSI generally has the best sound systems out of laptop speakers, though a headset should negate this benefit. I would suggest if you can, getting a 128GB SSD for your OS and a 512GB SSD for your games... the 1TB could remain.

ASUS has the best cooling I believe, but I don't think the GT72 is a problem. The 980Ms are not hard to cool; only the CPU is your main worry.

Thanks for your reply. As per the spec, there is 128gb*4 (512GB) M2 SSD in the 4 SSD slot for this msi, so in that case the OS should already be installed in the 1st 128gb,correct me if I am wrong. Will that affect the performance with this default configuration?

I wanted to choose this version of MSI because of IPS panel, otherwise I can get that other ones of msi with low cost but of course then the processor will be i7-4710HQ, I am not sure how much diff will it make as a overall performance -
    i7-4710HQ, GTX980M, full hd matte ---> i7-4980HQ, GTX 980, full hd IPS

That's incorrect. The 128*4 is raided so you have one large 512GB drive. In that case all your slots are full.

Next, the 4980HQ is a better CPU overall, and if you use CPU-intensive tasks like x264 rendering I highly recommend it. A lot of people prefer IPS panels over TN panels, and I suppose you could do so too. IPS is better looking by far, from what I remember, and you're not getting 120Hz on those TN panels anymore, so... cool.

I prefer the storage on the Asus even though the gt72 is a bit faster the Asus is cleaner in a sense from a single drive.

However the gt72 is far easier to maintain/clean as all the hardware is under a panel and the fans are removable. Combine with that the gpu is guaranteed to be upgrade to next gen by msi (likely a fully unlocked current chip) and the gt72 takes it.

GPU in MSI is MXM3.0B, the manufacturer advertises it as upgradable in the future. You cannot upgrade GPU in ASUS. MSI is far easier to clean or repaste if needed.

    My vote goes for MSI.

GT72 if I had to choose between these two, but really, get a Clevo with a socketed CPU. For 3 grand, you can get a Clevo P377SM-A with i7-4910MQ and 980M SLI, which destroys these two in terms of performance.

I am also thinking about going with the MSI. Confirm me one specification guys, 512GB M.2 Solid-State Drive <<128GB M.2 SSD x 4 RAID 0 + 1TB HDD (7200RPM) - As per MSI site spec>> ---> will this I can see as
4 separate drives of 128gb SSD and 1 drive of 1TB in my computer OR
    1 512gb(OS installed) SSD and 1 1TB HDD

And to run the games more fast and smooth, should I install all those in SSD or If the OS installed there in the SSD(which is by default) and I keep some of the games in the 1TB HDD, the performance will be same as the other configuration.

How is the review of Sager(Clevo), also is brand matters as part of servicing or warranty support?? just asking because I will be investing quite a lot of money to get the best one. I7-4910MQ and 980 SLI..deadly combination...like super computer :)...but to get this I think I need to customize all the default option, correct?

But has no ips display and significantly worse keyboard and speakers. Also it does not support 4k output.

I would have suggested the Clevo, but you had said you wanted the best screen and sound, so I didn't mention them.

The P377SM-A would do you well if you went with that.

+1 for the Sager.. The MSI might have a better screen but I'd take dual GPU's, socketed CPU anytime over the single GPU and BGA CPU... The screen isn't bad to be honest (much much better screen then the TN screen on lenovo Y50) and speakers will be allright..
