Hello,
this is my system:
Sony Vaio AR670
8600gt 256mb GDDR3
Windows Vista Ultimate
2gb
Rivatuner 2.06
Used both drivers 169.09 and 163.75
I have read all the guides regarding Rivatuner. I also know that I can't fan control my 8600gt in Vista for my system. So I proceed to overclocking. I first opened up the hardware monitor, to see my clocks and temps.
So then I go to the system tweaks for overclocking. My stock clocks are 475, 950, 702. The weird thing is on the monitoring it shows 182, 364, and 601. What happened?
So then I proceed to overclock. No matter what I set and apply, the monitoring shows the clocks going at the right speed then it goes down to the original 182, 364 and 601 by itself. What happened?
Thanks a bunch

Thats powermizer at work...while you´re in a 2d application there is no need for your card to be at a full blown speed, wasting power and generating heat.
Do this: in the monitoring window, rigth-click the core clock/rop domain section and select setup. Then select show core clock\rop domain in on-screen display and click run server (or you can click the orange icon that will appear in the monitoring window) Do the same thing, if you wish, for the memory clock, etc..., whatever you wish. After all this, run a game or a 3d application...you´ll see in the upper left corner those values you selected, and you will see that the card will be running at the clock speeds you defined.
Note that not all drivers permit overclocking, and sometimes it´s needed to turn of powermizer in the nvidia control panel (but do this only when you are going to play, and remember to turn it back on when you finish).
