Guys, i've been trying to overclock my x1600. I've been having problems doing so since I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. I've installed omega drivers, ati catalys and ati tray tools. I tried to tweak and change some of the settings, I read a lot of 'how to' articles on this and still don't know how to do this. I've read that I should use ati tray tools and how I should increase .15 at a time and test, to make sure that it doesn't burn anything. But I need details, can anyone give me a link or show me how to overclock from scratch.

    Thanks guys.

Hmm, really not trying to be rude, but if after all that you cant figure it out, i HIGHLY suggest you do not overclock it. It really can damage your laptop if you dont know what you are doing. Besides you have a pretty powerful setup anyways.

If you still want to do it, i suggest you re-read the how too's and read the ati tray tools site.

Yeah i totally agree with Jakets, overclocking isn't good if you don't know what you're doing, it can cause overheating etc. The setup you have can run any game out without the need for overclocking.

Thanks for the advice gentlemen, I totally agree with you guys. The thing is, I really got pissed off when I scored 3600 marks on 3dmark05 (500 marks less than the LG S1 that I dumped for this Toshiba). I think Toshiba underclock there machines more than necessary. Also, I'd like to learn how to overclock mostly because I'm knowledge hungry. There is a first for everything, wouldn't you test drive a ferrari if you didn't know how to handle a stick shift? That's a bad example, but I just have to use a car in every example I give.

Oh yeah, and if anyone has any idea on what a safe overclock limit is for the x1600, please let me know.

    Thanks

Every card is different. I cant tell you a safe limit and another person with the same card you have couldnt tell you a safe limit. Thats something you have to expariment with yourself to see what it can take.
