Hello everyone, im new on the forum and i really need some help, i will really apreciate it.

Well, i got a Acer Extensa 5420-5687 laptop, it came with windows vista, after a time i really got bored of it so i changed for windows xp, I found all the drivers on the Acer website, but the video driver dosent works, it says it cant find the correct hardware. As you can see on the tittle i got ATI Radeon Xpress 1250. Now i found a driver that installed correctly, but in hardware administrator says ATI Radeon X1200 series, i cant play most of the video games i used to run on vista correctly, like Dynasty Warriors 6, it dosent works on fullscreen like on vista.

I searched for hours on google and cant find the Radeon Xpress 1250 driver for windows xp, i really need some help, i will really apreciate it.

    Thank you.

Thank you for your help, i really apreciate it.

Well, i tried both links, the first one was, i believe, the same driver i downloaded from the Acer website and had the same not compatible hardware problem, the second link worked on the installation but after the restar i had ATI Radeon X1200 series again.

Looks like this igp driver is a bit tricky to find.

    Thanks again for your help.

Hey loco000, welcome to NBR :)

Take a look at this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=189009
The second post in that thread links to the GPU Guide, which has a section on updating integrated ATI/AMD cards. Take a look there and feel free to post back if you're still having issues. Usually, I would close threads relating to updating drivers, but since this seems to be a pretty special case, I'll leave it open.

    Thanks for the help crash.

I saw the guide and tried using the windows vista drivers that came with the laptop to install the display, it installed everything correctly until it said restart, i was getting happy but then, after the restart, the display was like with no drivers installed (windows size big and slow), i went to the device manager and it said ATI Radeon Xpress 1250 with the ! simbol on it, it said "Driver could not be loaded" (dont know if it is the correct translation, my windows is in spanish).

Tried the same method with the drivers i downloaded from the Acer website (suposed to be for windows xp) and the Radeon Xpress 1250 dosent shows on the list.

I dont understand whats the problem with this display drivers, why it only works on vista correctly.

Again, thank you for the help.

After days of searching for a driver that actually works fine with windows xp, i concluded that theres no such a thing, looks like a there are only ATI Radeon Xpress 1250 drivers for Vista, and for xp just Radeon X1200 series will work with it.

Well i guess ill just go back to Vista.

    Thanks for the help guys.
