hey guys, I need some help deciding, ok im what u could call a hardcore gamer, i don't know much about gpus and computer stuff I just enjoy gaming, anyways im on a low budget so no dell's xps for me, and i was seeing the dv5000t and its appears to be nice and cheap, (around 1200 $), it has a geforce go 7400 with 128 mb of discrete video memory (i don't know if this means dedicated video memory), for a 100$ dollars more or so i could get the 17" version of hps notebook wich comes with the same 128 mb 7400 but it can burrow another 128 to make a total of 256mb. I wanted to know if the other card could also burrow memory as they appear the same to me.

I prefer the 15,4" cause im gonna be moving it a lot and 17" is a little too big, and i was wondering if its gonna be ok, to play games in mid-grapichs, (I read somewhere the 7400 was a mid grapich card), and if there was another computed that you would recomend me for the same price or near.

You may want to fill out the Faq and post it in the corresponding forum so we could find some others for you to look at easier.

At that price range though, I'd go for the Dell Inspiron E1505, it has a X1400 in it which is comparable to the GO 7400. And, yes, they are both dedicated GPUs.

With Dell's coupons and a little bit more cash ($50) you could nearly max out the E1505 with one of Dell's $750 off any $1999+ configured Inspiron Coupons.

If you're not a hardcore gamer, the Go7400 128MB graphics card will be fine. It can handle the latest titles fine, just not at the maximum settings. They will still look decent.

The HP dv8000t does not have a 256MB card - I believe that half of it is shared memory. That won't make much of a difference in overall performance vs. the card in the dv5000t, which is the same card.

Personally, I like the HP dv5000t better than the E1505 because of the better design and overall quality. The Dell does give you more for your money though, so if you are going for that, the E1505 is your ticket. Reize mentioned the -$750 coupon for Dells, that is as good as it gets.
