    you really shouldnt go less than a GF8600M GT if you want to play crysis/hellgate at all

    the machine you have specced is very low spec by todays standards for notebooks, that are to be used for gaming.

    check out people like Zepto for competitive pricing on notebooks with a higher spec,

    it depends on whether you have thin & light requirements

    Yes, go with the 8600m gt if you can. It's much better. Try to go for 2 gigs of ram too

    With the 8400m gs, you can run Crysis on low settings. Not sure about BF2
    Call of duty 4 is amazing on it though :p

    Its worth the extra $$$ if you can afford to put in a 8600M GT or higher card.

    If I were you I would get the 8600 and hold off on the memory until you get the money. It is generally harder (most of the time) not possible to upgrade the video card later but you can the memory at any time (and for cheaper I might add).

    afitzwater is right. you can always upgrade the memory later, but video card is most likely a one time deal.

    Go for Dell, Hp at the moment doesn'have a powerful video card as dell's 8600gt except HP Pavilion HDX with 2600xt but it's 2600$ and a dell with a 8600 costs half...
    To play crysis i suggest something >T7100 and 2gb ram

    hello, i`m using vostro 1500/t7250/8400gs and here i can play:
    crysis => 800x600 all setting low, except texture and shader put in medium.
    bioshock => native res, all set to medium
    cod4 => all set low, except text/shader
    jericho => 800x600 all set to low, except texture/shader
    my lappie oc to 550/1100/450(all setting use these oc), but without oc still playable though, but little lag here and there. With my 9 cell battery, gaming on the road can go up to 3 hours.... :D

    conclusion: 8400gs still not to bad performer if you can`t afford/no need higher spec vga..
