    Hey Everyone,

Just a friendly reminder that HoN, or Heroes of Newerth, has gone to open beta. That means anyone can sign up, download the beta client, and start playing the game for free until the finished product is out. I usually don't like RTS games...But, I find this game to be very addicting and fun to play.

    Sign up at their website:

    http://www.heroesofnewerth.com/

    Hope this information has helped!

It's in Open Beta so free for now.

It's DotA with better graphics. The company S2 Games had gotten permission from the original creators to make this game. Some say it's better than the competing League of Legends (which is done by the DotA creators).

S2 Games have traditionally made games pay 2 play for a few years. Then later they release the game free to play.

So HoN should be pay to play for a while, but wait a while and it will be free likely.

My experience, HoN has the WORST gaming community I have ever encountered. I used to read about how horrible DotA players were, immaturity, their competitiveness in a virtual game is legendary IMO. HoN players have take that to the next level.
    - If you were like me, never played a game like this before, playing HoN is absolute hell unless you know good friends to play with.
    - Even if you join a match titled, 5 v 5 for Newbies. I swear you will not be playing against Newbies, but raging @.holes who just want an easy match to win, and when they think you are holding them back, you will be kicked from the game.
    - There is no single player or tutorial so for you to learn, the only way is to join servers for newbies. But these matches are always infested with the above, people just want easy matches to for their points, ranking whatever. It's just aggravating.
    - I played during closed beta and it just wasn't worth it to me to play having to deal with that. Joining matches that specifically say it's for easy, newbies who are learning to encounter raging idiots was not fun at all.
    - But if you are experienced and have good friends, I hear this is an amazing game.

learning curve is really steep, but once u got things right is very rewarding.

community is bad true but in this game if an ally sucks it drags the whole team and its more noticeable than in other games, thats why noobs get so much nerdrage.

Some of the games for newbs (1s tier light blue icon) can be pustomps, or games of really bad ppl as in not newbs with some games played and some knowledge of the game. This ppl are pro enough to flame a newb but not good enough to play with better ppl. Avoid em

Best advice if ur playing solo and starting in hon is:

-find No Stat games, chances are ppl wont give a crap if u do suck
-autobalance enabled games, no team stacking, no ninja swaps, no pubstomping
-find newbie games where the host isnt 1600+psr and most ppl have newbie stats and the locks are about 2/3 per team

another recommendation if ur starting in HoN play public games before joining matchmaking games.

    so game on!

if u can make it ull find a very rewarding gaming experience the reputation that precedes this games isnt a lie but if it worths the effort its up to u.

i know its worth it for me!

    edit:

besides a brief but adequate tutorial u have a cool practice mode also. HoN forums are full with guides also.

Nice tools to get u started =)

I played LoL (a competing product that is free) for ages. I was invited to the closed beta for HoN, and never before have i seen such a rude and immature community in a game. I mean, its like the WORST of XboX live, CS1.6, /. and 4chan put together. Seriously, thre were 3 of us that attempted to migrate over from LoL and after giving it 5 separate chances on 5 separate days we just uninstalled. The game itself is well made, but it just seems to draw in the douchiest of s.

Hopefully the open beta will bring in a fresh group that will tone the current regulars down a notch or 10.

HON i hyst extremly competetive thanks for the ranks and stats. If u dont wanna play with all the aholes u should get a clan with some friends and play as a team with em.

Personally i play in a clan with around 10 real life friends and its awesome!

I never play pub games anymore

So heroes of newerth is coming retail wednesday, May 12th so id like to invite ppl to test it while open beta is still up.

Its a fast download to test a great game (even with the well known 'issues' and steep learning curve) u can find anywhere from 30k - 65k ppl playing it.

and to tease some vids that I like:

    <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/BLYhfRX0NT0&hl=es_ES&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/BLYhfRX0NT0&hl=es_ES&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width='640' height="385"></embed></object>

    <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/FTPO3M9Euf0&hl=es_ES&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/FTPO3M9Euf0&hl=es_ES&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width='640' height="385"></embed></object>

Have fun. Ill try to keep posting in this thread to lure ppl until open beta ends =)
