Hey. I've been reading a lot before joining this forum. It seemed you guys are all nice, and has a great community, so... I decided to join in :)

A laptop that I have been having troubled to get (from eBay) is a Toshiba, Celeron M 520, with GMA 950... I'm selling that the first day I get it...

    I have $400... A laptop, a dell, 1GB RAM, AMD MK-36, ATI Xpress 1270...
The other is an Acer, same thing... but Celeron, and an Intel X3100G...

They are both around same price..., are the graphics performance same betweent those too? I heard the Intel got a Hardware T&L now...

All I want to play... probably not even a lot... CS Source.. err thats it lol.

or Should I keep the Toshiba? (The $400 is a PayPal redemption code)...

I'm just going to be doing word processing/power point/light video edition (alas Movie Maker)... watching DiVX Videos (Band of Brothers), music and AIM.

Games... I'm probably not even going to play it... thanks

X3100 will not run CS: Source playably.

Check out this thread for CS:S on X3100.

CS:S is playable, but on low settings, particularly dependent on resolutions. I'm not sure, but I've heard some mention that CS:S is also quite CPU dependent.

    I think i might stay with the Toshiba... It's new, (no docs tho)... I got it for $350 lol... yea I'm cheap.. Celeron 520, 1GB DDR2, WiFi, DVD+RW, 80GB HD,......I..n..in..intel...jee.em.ehyee... 950...

does anyone know if the toshiba... A135-S2426, has one DIMM left for expansion? or is it 512mb x2...

i might get a better HD and 2GB RAM for it... (put the 80 in my ps3 lol)...

what is the exact name of the Acer you are interested in.

    dont get less than C2DT7xxx , get an ASUS A8sc withT7300 + 1gb ram,XP pro , NV8400MG.

    This is priced 700US.

If you dont spend at least 700 us , it won't be easy to find a good computer , celeron is horribly slow and gets very hot.

if you like AMD at least get AMD turion 64x2 model like this.

    A8Dc-4009: Turion 64X2 TL60 2.0ghz, 1gb ram, Win XP pro(actually sP2), 160gb, NV 8400M g with 128mb ,2yr warranty with accidental damage plan.

    This is about 600US.

If you do Video decoding , buy a laptop with a powerful cpu like T7xxx or T8xxx
