When I play CoD4 at a lower res (non-native) it looks funny and not as good...higher res for me.

GAH! Any more of this nonsense then I'm gonna put on a helmet, bang my head against a wall repeatedly, and lick a window.

Do what works for you, period. All this crap about having to run at native res, is just that, crap. For years I have opted for a lower res with 2xAA or 4XAA and it is difficult to differeniate between that and 1920x1200 native res of my monitor. Sure native res may look a little bit more crisp if you sit and stare at a static image, but when playing nobody will know. Plus, I'll take 40-50 fps over 25-35 fps any day.

As a matter of fact I convinced a buddy of this. He was an advocate for native res only. Without even telling him the res (it was native 1920x1200), I had him play Gears of War on my computer. He took a break, I changed it to low res and when he got back he continued playing. After he was done I asked him how he liked the monitor (he was looking for a 24"), and he was impressed. When I told him I switched to 1280x800 he was surprised and just couldn't tell the difference.

Just a point is all. Do what works for you. If you're anal about native res, be sure to get a resolution that fits your video card. If you're fine with scaling, then do like me, get high res for desktop stuff, and play games lower res. Jaggies or no jaggies, play the damn game.

I prefer native although some games, especially X360 ports, still look good on 720p.

I couldn't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p for The Last Remnant as I can't on my Xbox. But I sure as hell saw it in Age of Conan for instance.
