Might be a dumb question for you game heads, but is their a such thing as Games made for High Def TV's? OR Equvilent? And what about on PCs?

Im thinking HD like, the free Egypt National Geo Clip, that came with XP MCE. Or is HD just for Video?

Well the games are made for anything. Its more the systems (xbox, ps3) compatibility with HD. With PCs there is no real 'high-def'.

All high definition is, is TVs @ 1920x1080 resolution. thats it =/

technically if you game at anything higher than 1280x1024 you're gaming at high definition.

720p is 1280x720 pixels (progressive scan)

so if you're at 1280x1024 PC gaming, you have the same number of horizontal pixels as 720p, with almost 300 more vertically.

and xbox 360 games as far as i know are made for 720p resolution although 1080i is a supported format, game devolopers were told to make 720p the ideal resolution.

I have a vga cable for my xbox 360 and i have it set at 1280x1024. And whether people say high end pc graphics are better or not i think the xbox 360 outperforms almost anything but the most top end cards (x1950xt, 8800, etc.) at this stage of the game. dx10 will be different story but thats later, im talking about now.

and also, you can game on a high def tv via vga/dvi. i've done it on my 32" 720p LCD which supported 1366x768. I think gaming on my 1280x1024 19" is better though (crisper picture)

The PS3 and the Xbox 360 both support 480p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p, which is considered high definition gaming (though 480p is only progressive scan and no higher resolution than standard definition). Of course, PC games have been supporting these kinds of resolutions for years, but the consoles just caught up this generation because standard TVs can only do a resolution of 640x480 max. And chonga was right on all points.

In addition to VGA/DVI though, the Xbox360 and PS3 also support high definition through component cables, and the PS3 does HDMI (though it doesn't do VGA). These are the same formats that you will be used to if you use DVD players and HD video players/cable boxes with your HDTV.

Actually, anything over 480p is high-def from my recollection (standard TV/DVD res is 720x480, 768x576 for PAL), so you're already gaming in high-definition, even at 800x600. See this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-definition_television#Standard_resolutions
