My new laptop specs are below, I installed and ran Hitman blood money and since its 3 years old now I figured I'd be able to play it with pretty high settings, if I try and set it to all lowest settings with 1920x1080 res the frames dip quite a bit with any camera movement. Surely I can do max res with lowest settings with my specs.

The only thing I can think of is that because it's a bit of an older game it's only using one of the duel core processors, is that it or could it be something else?
Has anyone else had any similar problems?

when you want to play on a high resolution like 1680x1050, 1920x1200, etc...

your GPU's memory interface will affect it greatly.

Your ATI is a mid-range card.... making you system a mid-range gaming system.

That is why mid-range cards (128-bit memory interface) interface function perfectly on average resolutions.... around 1280x1024.... with medium/high settings.

A high-end card (256-bit) will easily be able to drive a game at high resolutions (like 1920x1200) ... with high/max settings without taking a hit in performance.

please refer to the GPU Guide.

Yeah I know that but this is an old game and even if I reduce the res to 1024x768 with max settings it still doesn't run very smoothly, could it be because I haven't got the latest patch for the game? Is it def not the 2 cores thing?

plays fine on my fujitsu 1.7ghz / 2gb ram/ on board graphics/32bit vista so you should have no problems.

if thats the case, then definitely get the latest patch to see if it helps.

and see if your ATI Catalyst Control Panel has a specific profile for that game.

yeah man I know what ya mean. It runs slow even on my 9262 and changing the res doesnt make a difference. Its just a bad optimized game, thats it.

128 bit memory bus width means ~1280*800 resolution.

    BTW:

    1280*800 medium/high > 1920*1280 low.

It will look like the xbox/ps3 version at moderate resolutions and medium/high settings, not bad at all.
    lower the shaders/shadows perhaps...?

You can say the same about Crysis, but that does not mean you can play it on super high! Hitman is not a very demanding game, but the resolution you are looking for seem too much for your graphics card, so try a lower settings.

Yeah but i can play other games like fear at 1920x1080 with mid/high settings much better than blood money. and its a more demanding game, explain that! You cant just lump all games into one field and say you cant play games on an ati hd3650 with 1920x1080 res because its only the newer ones that would be unplayable at that res, a lot of older games (like fear and supposedly blood money) would be more than capable at playing at 1920x1080.

Yeah, somethings wrong here. I max it out with my 8600m GT including 4x AA and AF. Try updating both the game and video drivers.

Oh, and Silenced Single Silverballer FTW.

I play it maxed (with 2xAA, AF) on 1440x900 on my 8600m GT, and get about 40-60 fps, so you should be able to run it find at around there.

Agreed on the silenced single silverballer. Add a scope and a laser sight and it's perfect. Of course, you can get through pretty much the whole game without firing a shot.

If you have the latest patches, have you tried reinstalling it? I am not sure, but at the pace you are with those problems, it may not hurt at all trying to reinstall it.

Yeah, Silverballers are the best. I still don't understand how you can use a silencer on a shotgun though???

That is a high res for a 3650 to handle, I would drop it down a little bit. Also, make sure to turn shadows as low as possible -- they kill my card. And definitely try to force some AA because the jaggies on his suit are really noticeable.
