    Hmm... Counter Strike Servers Not Loading

    I have Counter Strike, the 300MB one, and yes i paid for it. I might not be waiting long enough, but when i start the game and press join server, the list never appears.

    Your Firewall may be blocking the servers, look in the exclusions list :)

    Don't press "join", press "refresh" or "get servers/list" or something like that. Join only works once you have a server selected.

    It's just not finding, how long do i have to wait?
    Oh and i pressed find server, not join.

    just tried and it took about 2 seconds to load hundreds of servers.
    you havnt got it open on the lan page have you?

    what anti virus and firewall are you using.

    It should start showing servers within a second.

    Try disabling your firewall altogether and see if that works.

    I have it open on the "Internet Page"

    Firewall is the Windows
    Anti Virus is AVG Free

    im running AVG pro which has its own firewall and have no problem seeing the servers on steam in counter strike source

    it might be worth having a look through the steam forum which will have a thread for CSS HERE

    Actually I installed CS 1.6 today from steam after maybe 3 years. I was bored and am waiting for BC2 beta till tomorrow :)
    I have the same problem, servers don't show up at all, I hit refresh all and nuthing, there seems to be something blocking this somewhere. I have no firewall nor do I have any anti-virus, I just run win7.
    What works for me is rightclick Steam icon in lower right corner, next to time/date and click servers, it shows u servers without actually having the game on, and weird things is they all showup without a problem in seconds :D
    Once u'r in game and u want to find different server alt/tab or press windows button on keyboard and look for server same way.

    I installed the HD pack for the Platinum Collection and for some reason, it works now.
