I have a Dell XPS m1530, 8600m GT, 2.2ghz core 2 duo, 3070mb RAM, and yeah. A week ago I could Run COD4 with no AA 1280x800 all high at about 60 fps steady. Now it wont go above 30. Ive typed in com_maxfps 100 and it still wont go over 30. its running from steam ( i bought it there) and im running in offline mode so that shouldnt be a problem. Vista 32bit happens with SP and MP

did you run 3d mark when you first got your notebook?

try running 3dmark 06 and post your score.

try 178.13, those are the best so far from what I have heard.

Is that too much for that setup? i think it is, the 8600m GT isnt all that powerful. I have trouble running on high at 1440x900 sometimes, and my V card is twice as powerful as yours. try toning down the settings and see what happens.

wierd you could do that a week ago though.....system restore?

I dont think it should be too much, i mean no AA or AF no specular map shadows or anything just running at 1280x800. I have good peformance in most other games too. But not anymore... still downloading 3dmark
