I have two nVIDIA GeForce GTX 770M in SLI mode

Now GPU-Z says it has 3GB DDR5 memory, is that 3GB for both or 3GB each?

so do I have 3 GB video RAM or 6 GB?

Each card uses it's own vram.
the data is duplicated on both cards.
    so it's 3+3.

That's not what I said. Multi-GPU doesn't increase the amount of usable VRAM since the data in frame buffer is mirrored. You could have one 780 Ti or four, doesn't matter; you still only have 3GB VRAM total.

    That's not how SLI works.

3+3 (3+3=6, no?) is a lot more confusing/ambiguous and prone to misunderstanding than just saying that you have 3GB total.

Let's just say that in Crossfire or SLI 2+2=2, 3+3=3, 4+4=4 et cetera ;)

SLI uses the Video RAM on both cards to render out a scene simultaneously. So when they mean you have two 3GB cards, when you view it in MSI Afterburner and it shows say... 4GB of video ram being used to render out the scene on screen, it's using the same amount of Video memory on each card. In that case it would be 2GB of the 3GB allotment being used on EACH card. So no, you can only say it's 3GB of memory rather than 6GB.

Common misconception and a MASSIVE marketing tool constantly used around the clock. >_>

    Hope that helps! :D

I have 2GB of VRAM with SLI and 16GB of system RAM so do I have 20GB of RAM for gaming??!?!

    You have 2GB+2GB=2GB&16GB+128KB-L1+1MB-L2+6MB-L3
    just for gaming.

    this discussion goes nowhere.

No, Afterburner OSD shows usage per card, which would be identical for each GPU. It doesn't add them together.

Don't forget GPU cache and virtual memory as well. :D

    But obviously he was kidding.

    But can it run Crysis?

Haha yeah it was just a little joke sa7ina. With all the explanations of SLI vRAM scaling in thread I don't think anyone would be that dense.
