Things should run on medium settings depending on the CPU and RAM.

    I run oblivian at 1440 x 900

Mostly high settings at 50 fps on a 7700 go with 2.0 ghz c2d

Maybe 35=40 fps on your 7600 go

Oblivion mostly depending on RAM.When you're inside some building or dungeon you can play good with 512MB RAM,but outside, framerate are going down quickly if you haven't at least 1GB.
7600GT will be enough for medium/high settings in games that you said, but RAM is important too.
