The other thing I didn't like about was that it beat you over the head with the angle, which seemed contrived and awkward in the first place. I support characters in games, but I find it ridiculous that rejecting their advances causes them to be my rival.

Um, are you talking about the old mage woman in the tower? Morrigan didn't approve of her, so I had the mage killed.
-
Dude, she was one of the party members, and a far more useful one than Morrigan. She's great for healing and buffing the party. Put her with two powerful fighters and a rogue and you'll plow through most battles with ease.
-
Its a must have RPG game if you are an RPG fan. I would give it a solid 4/5. Well may be 3.5/5. Anyhow it was enjoyable to play despite all the bad things like repetitive terrain. Not a huge ammount of games that are better imo
-
Well she's only one of the party members if you don't kill her. Plus Morrigan was better to look at.

That's the feeling I had after playing the demo and reading some reviews. If it had come from some no-name company, it'd be hailed as a pretty respectable effort. Not game-of-the-year material by any means, but perfectly decent. But people (rightly) have very high expectations from BioWare RPGs after KOTOR and DA:O, and DA2 didn't live up to those high expectations, resulting in some pretty angry customers.
-
Honestly, Kotor and ME, along with Jade Empire, are nothing more than FPS w/ pause and "SOME" RPG elemants ! Hence my new moniker for the company..............Biocrap !
-
I don't think it was even that. I don't expect any sequel to be as good as the first original game.
I think the complaints about DA2 came majority from the PC Gaming community. The console fans loved it.
I think PC Gamers and true RPG fans were the ones upset. DA2 was catered to the console players. It was an action game with more scripted linear story telling which these console players like from games like Assassin's Creed and other mind numbingly boring games they seem to like. DA2 didn't have the truly interesting and sometimes thought provoking decisions DA:O and other great RPG games presented. I didn't find there was much RPG at all in DA2. DA2 was just an action game to me with a very linear story telling. Role Playing, that's not what I was doing, I was there for the ride. -
Mass Effect IS an RPG-shooter hybrid, not a pure RPG. ME2 moved even further in the cover-based shooter direction. But KOTOR? A shooter? Are we talking about the same game here?!
-
Uhhh, KOTOR is awesome, I will tolerate no nonsense putting it into question! =p
And it's not a shooter at all lol -
I just dont have a habbit of comparing. I am thinking about it like this.
Graphics — good 4/5
Storyline — rather linear but still entertaining and even epic at times 4/5
Fighting system — You can see gorgeous particles of blood if you pause! Motion is good and there are combos. good 4/5
Character and party customization / builds etc — good enough to make me play it twice to try smth different 4/5
Level design — thats the downside. Too much copypaste 2/5
Music — they used 30s to mars <3 in trailer. Cant complain.
Maybe DA1 had something that is better but i dont think it can compete on graphics and customization front. Having non linear storyline isnt everything. -
What kind of customization?
-
I mean leveling different skills and stats on different characters game to game to create skill chains and different playstyles, not visual customization. Customizing 5 players visually would be too much for me, i am fine with one.

I came, I saw, I play, I return. So disappointed in Bioware.
How bad is Dragon Age 2?
