Hi guys, I have an ATI x1350 which can use up to 875 MB of graphics memory however I was unable to expand this graphics memory which is currently set to 128 MB ; I tried to do so by accessing the system BIOS but nothing figured out; Does the card change its memory itself? I mean without user's intervention...what should i do
    thanks in advance

    system: HP COMPAQ 6820s Laptop

    *T8100 Intel(r)core 2 duo 2.10 2.10

this isen't "dedicated" graphics memory. You have an integrated card, and windows allocates some of the RAM for this card to use as vram. Windows increases and decreases this as necessary, so you shoulden't have to change it.

Actually the X1350 is dedicated card with either 128 MB or 256 MB of dedicated memory. But yes, it also has the regular ATi hypermemory feature which uses the system RAM if necessary when the dedicated is already fully used (which is basically never).

    @ Atlantis
No there's no need to increase the system memory allocation (hypermemory) for your card. It won't increase performance and the dedicated memory of 128 MB is more than enough for X1350. More would be just waste. Also the dedicated memory on the card can't be increased via software. Your card is just fine as it is.

    Hyper Memory for the win.

Yes, I have an ATI X1300 in my Thinkpad T60 (almost identical to a 1350). It is advertised as having 256mb of memory but in reality, it's merely 64mb dedicated memory. Some X1300's came with 128mb so you may be lucky.

I wouldn't work yourself up over trying to expand and increase the virtual memory, IMO it won't increase your performance by any noticable amount. Unfortunately the X1300 only has 4 pipelines and runs at a whopping 350mHz so having 64-128mb of dedicated video memory is more than sufficient to keep the beast of a GPU fed.

As far as what games I can/do play: WoW, HL2, BF2

Needless to say, I am waiting to make a massive upgrade to my laptop in about a year. But this one has served me well through my several years of WoW and BF2 addicition.

That card can barely handle 128MB let alone 875MB. Just keep it where it is at.

its kinda like putting more food on your plate after you are full. You might be able to do it, but it really does you no good.

I havent heard of a way to actually do this, most cards do it automatically based on what they need

I used to have a similar card..went from 64mb.to 1.7 gb with some drivers..

noticed no differance..only differance was setting textures to veryhigh ingame made no diff in performance..i could play call of duty ultra high with trilinear, at 640x480..the same as all low..but you wont get better framerates because of the extra ram..
