I was looking on Dell's site and it seems that there is no mention anywhere if the graphics cards on a given laptop is integrated or not. Years ago, it would say this. Am I to assume that now all new Dell laptops have a separate graphics card?

    Thanks

If you go into the custom configuration page for the laptop you are looking at, it will tell you the video card.

Yes, all of Intels graphics are IGPs or GMAs, Nvidia and ATI are dedicated video cards (most of the time)

Thanks, but I did a rough quick search on the graphics card via google and it made no mention but now I know that Nvidia and ATI use dedicated video cards.

The following are common IGPs built into the chipset northbridge off the top of my head that could still be sold:

    Intel: GMA 900, GMA 950, GMA 3000, GMA 3100, GMA X3000, GMA X3100
    nVidia: GeForce 6100, GeForce 6150, GeForce 7025, GeForce 7050
    ATI: Xpress 200, Xpress 1100, Xpress 1150, Xpress 1200, Xpress 1250

There may of course be variations like the Xpress 200 being desktop, Xpress 200M being notebook, a special higher clocked Xpress 1270, the Geforce 6150LE, but you get the idea. Basically any GMA or Xpress is an IGP, although Xpress is also used to refer to the chipset itself like the Xpress 3200 chipset which doesn't include an IGP. nVidia uses abnormally low numbers for their IGPs like the 6100 and 7050. Upcoming IGPs include the nVidia GeForce 7150 for Intel desktops and Intel's own GMA X3500 for desktops.

Yes, both ATI and nVidia make integrated graphics solutions. I'm not sure which one's Dell uses, probably the x1150 and the x1270.

EDIT: ltcommander_data beat me too it.

Yeah, and they use either the x1100 or x1150 on the older 1501/1000, not sure which and am currently too lazy to check it out.
