What resolution are you running? My Studio 15 has a weaker P8600 (2.4GHz, 3MB L2), ATi 4570 with 256MB GDDR3, and 4GB of DDR2 memory. TF2 runs just fine at my native 720p with all settings except AA on high.

Alternatively you could restrict the source engine to directx8 or 8.1

add -dxlevel 81 to the commandline
remove it after u have run tf2 once, or it'll reset your gfx everytime.

95 puts it back to directx9.0c

Yeah, there's no reason it should be running so poorly on that hardware. The 4570 is a pretty capable graphics processor, and the T9550 is a way better CPU.

Windows 7 uses the same OS kernel as Vista, and drivers are generally fully compatible. Gaming on the Windows 7 RC is no different than doing so on Vista, for me.

Are you sure you're not in Power Saving mode?

Well I don't know which notebook you have but just try downloading the Vista64 drivers from your laptop drivers site. If they are 9.3 (8.591) or up they should work w/o issues on Win7. Since 4570 is fairly new odds are that the drivers on the site is 9.3 or up anyway.

Also you could use modded drivers like DNA Ati drivers or others but then you run into the drivers signature issues from using a 64bit OS with modded drivers. I was so happy when I found the official win7 ATi drivers since I did not have to fake sign the drivers to work anymore on Win7/Vista 64bit edition.

AMD ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4570 << return to results

    Release Date: 2/17/2009
    Version: 8.553.2.0000, A04
    Download Type: Driver
    File Format: Hard-Drive
    File Size: 110 MB

Thats what it says on the dell site... so its only 8.55, not 8.59 or up, so i'm screwed?
