I have a dell alienware 17 laptop with gtx 1070.... when I play my game the gpu usage almost always remains near 50% usage, giving me bad FPS. My cpu usage is close to 60%. I noticed that when I'm standing still or walking in one direction then my gpu gets close to 90%, giving fps of around 150. But when I start to jump around and more people come on the screen then the card usage drops to 45-50% giving fps of around 90-100. My cpu is i7-7700HQ.
Also, changing any settings don't help at all, I have tried everything from maximizing power performance in NVIDIA panel to setting high performance to " on" on the power settings.
Can anyone please help me identify the problem here. I have seen videos of people with 1070 having gpu at constant 95%+, causing them to have a very high fps value in the same games I play.
One more thing, in the menu screen most of the times my gpu stays as 45% giving me 130 fps, but sometimes gpu usage increases to 95%, giving 180+fps. I don't get why that happens and why changing any settings don't work at all :(
Any advise would be really appreciated, thanks.

Kindly help us get a better picture.
    1. What game are you playing?
    2. What are your temps?

Curious what screen you have as well.
Your 17" most likely tops out around 60-75hz anyway depending on the panel- unless you sprung for the 120hz which would still be maxed out anyway.

Yes I have a 60 hz screen, can that be one of the issues for it? Other older games run at 250 fps though. I know that a 60 hz monitor can only pump out 60 fps, but id still appreciate the 120 fps range which my card can definitely pump out on my game. I don't understand why it runs at 80 something fps on crowded places, when it should run at 120 atleast. Even with a 60 hz screen, it still feels much smoother if GPU ios pumping high fps, compared to low.
Another thing is that it shoots up to 80 + giving 130 fps when I'm standing still, no matter the action happening around me. However when I start to move, it drastically drops to 45%. Can someone pls explain why this is happening?

I am playing quake champions mainly. My gpu temp stays at 70 degree Celcius, while my cpu gets close to 90 while playing. Please help me out!

You still haven't answered the question of what games you're playing.

I will say this: If you wanted to run at super high fps, you should've sprung for the unlocked CPU. The 7700HQ bottlenecks the full potential of the 1070.

What you're experiencing in the crowded areas is that bottleneck.

I am playing quake champions, I mentioned it in the last post of mine. But wont a CPU which is being bottlenecked run at a higher usage than 50%? my cpu usage is 60% at max.

Will disabling HPET increase the performance of my CPU?
